So, first time posting on a forum. So first off, Howdy.
I was talking to a fleet member and we were both venting about wanting our respective lvl 11 ships.
I was thinking why don't we have an option when we start the game? Everyone starts with the Light cruiser which is ok. Seems to me it wouldnt be totally game breaking to have light versions of the escort and science vessels as well. My thinking is, at least this way players can get a little taste of their respective ships before choosing for real, also at lvl 11 you can start in on tier 2 skills which starts to branch into beams/ cannons and so forth, just seems with the skills cap it'd be nice to try an escort type ship before purchasing one and starting to rank up cannons and thinking to yourself "man this blows should have gone with a cruiser." Might be a little late in the game to implement this. but hey never get anything if you don't ask right?

Thanks,
Cap. Artos

I was thinking something similar, maybe at say... Lt. Class 5, you could choose Sci, Esc or Cruiser, and test the different classes out. I mean, I wanted a cruiser from the get go, but i was'nt sure if i would like it. I did, but if not, I'd have to buy a nother ship, and lose skillpoints that i've already placed in cruiser slot.

i think it is a very good idea
getting out of a nubbin ship and being able to test them out would help with what type of ship i want to go in to

Even if it was just an upgrade to the Miranda. A quest that could change 1 BO spot. Lose tac and add sci for sci upgrade. Lose sci and add tac for escort upgrade. Lose sci and add eng for cruiser. Then Inc or decease crew size and turn ratio per class specs.

Thisnhas been a topic in bot CB and OB. Doesn't look like it will ever change though.

The biggest problem in my POV is that you have NO idea about the differences in the ships, except from what you read, and reading about, and trying out are totaly different.

Another idea would be to choose a specific ship in the beggining, Sci, Esc or cruiser from the start, then you would'nt have to spend about 10-12 hours just to try the different ships.

I kinda want some faster ships. A faster version of the escort, but weaker hull and weapons.

No. You develop your character and bridge officer skills during those levels.

1-10 = nub zone, learning with a ship that the other ships are rated against - a workhorse of the fleet.
No you shouldn't get more ships.

Then again only took me the night to get to 11 so it's all good... with that speed why even care?
