Starting abilities question for all reaces

Is there a guide out there or a thread that can help narrow down what races are best for what class and then some suggested other traits. I'm just wondering since I am trying to get an idea of where to go with my toon and I don't want to get 20 levels in and realize I made a huge mistake choosing what I did. Or is it better to just go alien and choose my own.

Any thoughts or input would be most appreciated.

Massively has a pretty good breakdown of the races and traits. It was written during Open Beta but I don't think much of the traits if any changed.

I don't want to get 20 levels in and realize I made a huge mistake choosing what I did.
Unless you're a committed min-maxer, your choice of racial traits doesn't make nearly enough difference to your overall effectiveness to lead to those kind of problems.

Far more important, I think, to choose a species that you think is cool and are happy playing than to sweat about a few minor bonuses here and there.

You mileage may indeed vary, of course. ;)
