The Andorian Imperial Guard fight for the honour of Andoria and the Federation. Membership is open to Andorians and non-Andorians as part of our post-Dominion War multi-ethnic program!

Basicly its just a place for plays to play and know that somewhere in the galaxy someone will have your back! Friendly, open, gentle RP, but if you don't then you don't have to! Had a great City of Heroes guild so the natural evolution of that! We're great fun!

Ok, slow day at work...have come up with the following to allow those to seek Science/Exploration to not be held back by those of us who like to kick arse!

The Andorian Imperial Guard is broken up into 3 branches:

Imperial Guard Central Command
Imperial Guard
Imperial Guard Science Division (attatched to the Andorian Science Institute)
Ahm Tal (Andorian Imperial Guard's intelligence Service)


Those within the Imperial Guard and Science Divisions hold equal rank as Guardsmen.
The ranking structure of the Imperial Guard is:

General
Captain
Commander
Lieutenant

These ranks hold no relation to Starfleet commissions

Central Command is made up of 7 Generals, known as the Council of Seven. The Council of Seven are:

Lord General - Head of the Central Command and overall leader of the Imperial Guard

Thir'General - Second of the Central Command and overall deputy leader of the Imperial Guard

Science Division - Two Generals in Command of the Science Division including both exploration and providing additional security to the Imperial Guard through technological advancement and the additional benifits of Science ships

Imperial Guard - Two Generals in Command of the Imperial Guard's combat operations. Cruiser Captains, the Imperial Guard's Combat Generals are responsible the majority of standard combat using convential weapons and ships.

Ahm Tal - General in Command of the Ahm Tal, the Andorian Intelligence Service. Commands the most advanced combat ships (Escorts) and responsible for the maajority of heavy and advanced combat

All 7 Generals are responsible for recruitment. No action can be taken without majority agreement by the Council. Whilst the Lord General and Thir'General are the most superior ranks, they hold no veto over the other Councilmen, it is equal.

The point of this is just to devide everything up people can do what they want (explore, fight etc) and so if we get in a fleet action we know that the Science Division Generals will ensure that they are using buffs, that the Ahm Tal generals are ensuring that Science vessels are protected and using their advanced weapons to pack a punch, and that the Guard Generals are using their Cruisers to maximum effect in all round combat. Its not rigid and by no means should you be worried about it, its just to ensure in PvP, fleet actions etc everyone knows what they're doing and who is reponsible for what...

If its ****** tell me and I will change it...if not, once we're all sorted, the first 7 will get to choose what they want to do...

What a day!!!

Fleet formation followed by a jolly around space! Went out for a bit, came back, all met up on Teb's bridge, jollied around for a bit, then everyone online came aboard the flagship (USS Resolute) and we had a small social, even had some visitors from elsewhere! Then we all headed home to Andoria and messed about on the planet for a bit...trying to get some fleet features to work and attempting Ushaan, but don't think that feature is working yet!

All in all...if you're looking for a sociable, fun, engaging fleet with lots of team work and optional frequent meet ups then today proved that the Andorian Imperial Guard is for you!

Anyways, the fruits of my labour last night:

A Modern History of the Andorian Imperial Guard

The Andorian Imperial Guard has loyally served the Andoria for centuries. Long before the United Federation of Planets existed the Imperial Guard fought to protect Andoria and her interest no matter what the cost.

The Andorian Imperial Guard’s modern history began 1950 with the start of the Cold War with Vulcan. The aggressive actions of the Vulcans as they attempted to encroach on Andorian territory was stopped with the loyal sacrifice of Guardsman from throughout the empire. This cold war flared several times, most notably in the 2150s. It was at this time that the Imperial Guards most loyal, brave and iconic hero rose to prominence, Thy’lek Shran, whose descendants continue to fight within the Guard to this day. He was responsible for the glorious victories won by the Imperial Guard throughout this period. In 2154 the standoff escalated into armed conflict when the Vulcan High Command attempted to launch a pre-emptive strike against Andoria itself. With the help of Starfleet, and logical voices within Vulcan, open war was averted and the attack on Andoria called off, but not before many Imperial Guardsman lost their lives defending their homeland.

In late 2154 the Romulans began to rear their head. In an attempt to disrupt the strength of the Imperial Guard, and to a lesser extent its ongoing alliance with Starfleet, the Romulans began to launch fake attacks on Andorian, Tellarite, Vulcan and Human ships, implicating the other powers. Am Tal, the Andorian Imperial Guard’s Intelligence service, along with Starfleet, Vulcan and the Tellarite ships exposed the Romulan plot. This alliance developed into the Coalition of Planets in 2155. In 2156, Romulus attacked Earth, sparking the Earth-Romulan War. In 2160 the Imperial Guard made one of her largest modern sacrifices at the Battle of Cheron. The Coalition of Planets clashed with the Romulan Star Empire in what was to be the final battle of the Earth-Romulan War, in the Cheron System. The Imperial Guard fought valiantly and defended the entire right flank single handed. With the Romulan fleet utterly destroyed they retreated back into their space, not to be seen again for many years.

In 2161, Andoria, Vulcan, Earth and Tellar formed the United Federation of Planets, an inter-stellar federal republic to the mutual benefit of all powers. With the formation of the Federation, the role of the Imperial Guard took a battering. With Starfleet taking over responsibility for most spaced based operations, the Imperial Guard became simply responsible for self defence of the Andorian regions of the Federation, and defence of Parliament Andoria, the political centre of Andoria. The expense of maintaining such a large fleet for such a lowly role resulted in cuts within the Guard’s fleet. This was a dark time; however it was not all bad. A new era began for the Imperial Guard with the first non-Andorian becoming a Guardsman in 2164, non other then Jonathon Archer. Following this Archer was assigned as Ambassador to Andoria and sought to maintain and promote the Imperial Guard within Starfleet.

The Imperial Guard continued to function in a lowly role, and this had a massive affect on the loyalty of her troops. The 24th century saw rebellion by certain members of the Guard unhappy with how Andoria was being treated within the Federation. On stardate 47996.7 Commander Ortees Sharad was dispatched to Andoria by Starfleet intelligence to assess the threat of the True Heirs of Andor, known as the THA. The THA consisted of former Imperial Guard commander General Kovan. Sharad challenged Kovan to Ushaan and ultimately defeated him, exposing the THA to public scrutiny. The revelation of how deep this rebellion went caused widespread change throughout Andorian and Federation defence policy. The Imperial Guard was purged of all Officers with sympathies toward the THA. In return, Starfleet loosened its control over the Guard and allowed it to conduct operations outside Andorian space. What came next caused the most upheaval to the Imperial Guard since the 20th Century.

In 2373 the Dominion War began. The Imperial Guard, under its new mandate from Starfleet, was called up to fight for both Andoria, and the Federation. A year later in 2374, Betazed fell to the Dominion and Andoria became the front line. Many skirmishes were fought between the Dominion fleet and the Imperial Guard, with the gall, determination, loyalty and skill of the Guard frequently smashing the blind following of the Jem’Hadar. The Imperial Guard excelled in this period, with Guardsman fighting not only to defend the boarder, but at the second Battle of Chin’toka (2375), Ricktor Prime (2375) and the assault of Cardassia (2375), as well as assisting hugely in the re-taking of Betazed. At Chin’toka, the Imperial Guard fought a delaying action to protect the remnants of the fleet in escaping following the devastating effect of the Breen super weapon. Many Guardsmen lost their lives during this difficult period, and the ultimate victory was built upon the blood of Andorians. With the end of the Dominion War, many in Andoria saw the Imperial Guard as heroes, and rightly too. Starfleet acknowledged the sacrifice of the Andorian Imperial Guard and proposed a new system, under the Imperial Guard Act of 2376. The Imperial Guard would once again be brought into Starfleet, but as an elite unit within it. Non-Andorians within Starfleet would be allowed to be recruited and given Imperial Guard ranks, and Andorians within the Guard would be given Starfleet Commissions. Starfleet would supply the ships, which could be outfitted by Andorians as seen fit, and ultimately command of the Imperial Guard would rest with the Central Command on Andoria. It was at this time that Rassilian Dryal rose to prominence. His father was a Thir’General during the purge following the THA incident. As a result, Dryal was trained at the Imperial Training College Andor from 2391, at very young age. In 2407 at the age of 20 he took up his Starfleet Commission as part of the Imperial Guard Act, and at 21 was assigned to the USS Resolute. With the death of Sharen later the same year Dryal was selected to become Lord General and assumed this rank in 2409. Dryal, appointed an entirely new Council of Nine upon becoming Lord General, which oversaw the expansion of the Imperial Guard into the strong, loyal, dedicated and heroic fight force it is today.

it is with pride that I watch the Imperial Guard soar onto STO and will follow with interest it's exploits.

I really enjoyed the Guard's History you put up. Although obviously heavily influenced by the Entrerprise series (with it's canon mistakes like colonizing agressive Vulcans and omitting the Centaurians in the founding of the Federation), it is well written and well conceived. If only one race would want and be allowed some independence within the united structure of Starfleet, it would be the Andorian Imperial Guard!

After all, even Starfleet rules allows Andorians the right to the Ushaan even aboard it's starships!

Although I can not join your excellent group, I would like to offer you the synthesis of the Andorian race I put up a year ago here:

It is a comprehensive resume of all things Andorian, trying to solve inconsistencies and contradictions in certain documents gathered all around the web and librairies, (like the confusion between the giant gas planet Andor ant the M-Class ice-moon Andoria, true home of the race); the main one being the excellent RPG book ''Among the Clans'' written in the 80's, wich was obviously the basis of everything canon that followed it (like Enterprise and Data's reference to Andorians having 4 sexes etc).

This should help your members make up rich and beleivable Andorian characters for the rest of the community to enjoy (and avoid blatant mistakes like Andorian hybrids and attacking from behind or for no good reason).

Thank you very much :D I wrote the history in an evening as an effort to piece together all the 'canon' and 'semi-canon' elements of Trek, including the recent comic on Andorians.
