I have remapped all my most commonly used controls to my mouse and found gameplay to be MUCH easier.
I am using a Logitec G9 Laser with a total of 4 buttons and a wheel.
Leaving the facing controls alone (both main buttons) alone, I remapped...
Throttle control -> Wheel Up
Full Impulse -> Wheel Down
(Since I rarely if ever screw with the camera)
Button 4 -> Fire all weapons
Button 5 -> Realign all shields
(Since they are close together)
In this way, Space combat is extraordinarily easy. I am working on how to improve planetside combat using these buttons.
