I guess everyone who played a Fleet battle will agree with this.
There is a fundamental Problem with how Fleet Battles are decided. Points for Fleet Battles are only given for damage done. The problem with that is that the DPS ship, the escorts, can do so much more damage than the other two ship classes that it is useless to enter a fleet battle with anything but an escort.
Just watch any fleet battle and you will see escorts getting three times more points than other ships. Many times the entire "winning ranks" are filled with escorts. And as Fleet Battles are the best and nearly only source of good equipment it means that people who not play escorts have a big disadvantage as they can't get good equipment and money by selling their wins.
How to solve this issue?
First, things other than damage must count like tanking and buffing/debuffing/healing
Second, introduce a random element, like in Warhammer Online, so that performing well increases your chance to win an item, but is not a 100% guarantee.
Or simply make separate lists for the 3 ship types. To not tripple the amount of rare items per FB, simply give it to one of the people placed 1st at random. Everyone else gets uncommon loot.
I wish a Dev would answer to this and tell if some change is planned, or if people should play escorts to farm items for the ship they really want to fly.
