doing missions

in some future patch, would it be possible to, rather than pick and choose what mission you're goind to do, you are order to carry out specific missions as was done in the series'? Kirk and Picard never had to option to say "i'll do this one, but not that" for whatever reason.

In an MMO, taking away choice is a bad thing. That's my thought,

you won't be taking away anything. you can still do whatever, you'll just recieve orders from Starfleet rather that choosing a specific mission as well

Are we just talking sematics here - like the mission briefng should be more compulsory rather than 'swing by X-ilon Starsystem if you can find the time' ?
