Bortasqu', Fleet Mogh or Fleet Negh'Var?

I'm just finishing up my K.D.F. character (Kargon. Don't ask, And don't look it in the eye.)
"He is an Engineer so I want to get my precious Kargon a good cruiser. The 3 I'm looking at are the 3-pack Bortasqu', Fleet Mogh, and the Fleet Negh'Var. From a veterans perspective which one is better in both firepower and hull.

What do you want to do with it? And does that include turning?

Fleet Mogh. no competition(for these choices).
Fleet Negh'var lacks firepower and the Bortasqu' is a flying death trap despite the hull numbers. It has no defense % to speak of and can't turn away in a pinch without evasive which even then can be too slow. I've tried running it with and without the special consoles it comes with(they're pretty lame btw), and with several different builds and have never found it to perform particularly well. I run the Fleet Tor'Kaht on my KDF tac and love it, wouldn't mind picking up the Mogh but the Tor'Kaht does just fine for me. It's Maneuverable, good defenses, great firepower, all the makings of a true BATTLEcruiser.

The Tor'Kaht does have a great turn rate (Tor'Kaht: 10) (Fleet Mogh: 9)
but it gives that up for some hull (Tor'Kaht: 39600) (Fleet Mogh): 41250 . I think I'll get the Fleet Mogh, first. But someday I'll get the Tor'Kaht. I like the looks of it.

Thank you for the info jadz3.

Negh'var and Bortasqu are more about support and absorbing punishment, while the Mogh deals with threats by making them go away. There is also the Mirror Negh'var to consider which is an excellent support ship with a decent amount of firepower, giving you something middle-of-the road till you're sure, and much much cheaper.

Also, why can I see your signature even though I have those turned off. You're inputting it manually rather than set for automatic?

stomperx99 02-09-2014 05:14 PM

It's automatic, I think...... I'll get the Fleet Mogh first. But one day I'll get the flagship.
I talked to people in my fleet the Bortasqu' isn't a bad ship it's slow but so is my [REDACTED].

Thank you Reginamala

An advantage the Mogh has over the Tor'kaht is the higher inertia. So if you wanna fly more escort-like, the Mogh is the ship to go with. Tor'kaht, despite the higher turnrate, still has to operate like a heavier ship because it has about half the inertia rating of the Mogh.

The only thing the Bortas'qu is good for is beam-boating with 5 tac consoles. It's nothing special, and can't really tank that well. There's a reason it didn't sell that well amongst KDF players. . .if we wanna fly space whales, we can play Federation.

If you want to do DPS then it's the fleet Mogh easily.

The low inertia can be an advantage, though. When you can turn your nose about faster than you can change the direction of your movement, you can start to almost-strafe your target.

Fleet Mogh first is the right choice. It's the best all-rounder out of the 3 ships you listed. You will not be disappointed.

As far as Big Bad Bort goes, I'm an admitted Bortasqu' fan. It's big and imposing and looks just like the battlecruiser from Starcraft and I love flying it, but a few things to note when (if) you buy it...

- timezarg is right, the only load-out the Bortasqu' really works well with is beamboat. While it can mount cannons, whether you should is another question entirely (the answer is no, you shouldn't).

- not sure why jadz thinks it's a flying deathtrap. I'm almost unkillable in PVE in my Bortasqu'. I've got the borg engine and deflector on it along with an elite fleet shield and it's a juggernaut.

- don't waste slots on RCS consoles trying to get the thing to turn. Just accept that it can't and learn to live with it.

- don't buy the 3-pack. The usefulness of the special consoles is questionable at best and the set bonus is meh. The pet you get will be dead and on cooldown most of the time because it always immediately gets itself killed after launch. Just get the Tactical (5 Tac slot) version and dump the gimmicky autocannon in the trash.

- Consider the Bortasqu' suitable for PVE ONLY. It's absolutely one of the worst ships you could take into PvP. Your KDF teammates will hate you for bringing a Bortasqu' into the fight because it's nothing but a big target for Fed escorts.
