Devs please make these simple changes.....
 
For the love of God, please make the cursor bigger, or give me the option to do so. i continually lose that tiny blue cursor during combat, it is just simply too small....

Also, I would like a camera option that that keeps the camera behind my ship, unless I choose to look around via right click.........or give flight stick support....preferably the latter. In any case, the camera should not be moving away from the direction I am traveling.

These two extremely simple changes would really improve the quality of my game play,....anyone disagree?

+1 to the Camera Opton locked behind the ship view (or user configureable view). I will explain why this is crucial. Much of space combat involves potitioning your ships weapons pointing at the weakest part of your enemies shield. The small front position indicator is often obscured by weapon effects or skill effects that are constantly being thrown at your ship (especially during PvP). To further add to the confusion, your enemy may not be in the firing arc of your weapons not only through side to side movement but also it's pitch (up and down) movement.

Having a camera view locked to a specific user configuraeble view (front, side or rear) will go a long way in knowing if an enemy is within the firing arc of your chosen weapon bank.

I disagree... Sorry.

In space I routinely have my ship pointing in a different direction then my camera. This is so I can see the bigger picture of space battles. I can see the battle in 3D. Situational awareness is of utmost importance, not just the target you are currently working on but which one is next, the one after that, etc. Also you need to know what is happening to your the rest of the team, and what might be sneaking up on you. What's behind me, to the left, right, up and down are equally as important as what I am shooting at. You should be able to tell your fire arcs from your shield display and act accordingly.

Since these are basically battleships in space, not figthers, locking your camera to forward facing isn't really a viable option. Most ships have weapons that fire significantly off from directly in front of your ship, and since shield facings are SO important in the game, the ability to still see your target is critical to succes. Having a locked point of view would force you to use your ship like a fighter, which they are definately not. These are capital ships that weigh in at thousands of tons each and need to be treated accordingly. They don't handle like a fighter, especially the cruisers. You have to plan ahead and map out what you are going to do several steps ahead, to be able to maximize your effectiveness.

Maybe it's just my pen/paper wargame background, but I dont want to pilot my ship like a fighter. I want to be able to look at my enemy as I do a broadside and then hit the rear shields as I pass. And if it goes out of a firing arc, be able to quickly select a target that IS in an arc for shots of opportunity, while keeping track of my primary target. There is a lot going on in space battles and you have to think in 3 dimensions, not just what is in front of you.

Remember that you are sitting in a chair on the bridge giving orders to the bridge officers while looking at a tactical map of the area and prioritizing targets and objectives, not sitting in a cockpit.

If you don't play that way, it's up to you. Not saying I am right or wrong in teh way I play necessarily, I just know what works for me and for larger real world warships (which is similar to how these ships handle, only in 3D).

I TOTALLY Agree on the cursor though. A bright orange cursor, while being an eyesore, would definately be easier to see, than the tiny blue/black one there is now. If it were not for hotkeys, I would be significantly less effective in space.

I actually do play in 3D using NVIDIA 3D Vision. That why I want my camera centered until I want to look around , and in the direction I want my camera to go. I do not want it floating off in some random direction..... I play a tactical escort that moves considerably faster than the other ships, and I need to see whats in front of me, if something is behind me and hitting me, I will see it on my shields. Mostly though I need to keep my target in my sights .............. when i move my camera to look around should be up to me.........

Um, I have never had the camera just wander off on me... doesn't move unless I move it, which is pretty much constant admittedly.

And by 3D I wasnt talking about 3D glasses, I meant out-of-plane movement and awareness.

I use camera controls pretty much constantly too and there is a 'Always Face Forward' camera setting that doesn't work terribly well, ie. if you manually change camera angle, you have to use Turn-to-Face-Camera command to realign it and get that setting working again. I can see why people would want it not to snap back but I can also see people wanting it to snap back too.
There's also no Vector line (movement direction line) other than the tit on the forward shield indicator. So manually aligned the camera back is kind of a pain (I've never been able to do it manually - always had to use the command and thats slow).

Actually now that I recall, In Champions Online I used to call the Home Camera-Restore Default position on release to do that (always kind of stunk that I could define the default though since I didn't like it).

i would like to be able to set my camera focus on other ships, mainly for viewing reason.

You can already lock the camera behind your ship by pressing x (default). It is a toggle to determine whether or not the camera will follow your target, or remain locked behind your starship.
