Science team has a 30 second duration and 45 second cooldown, with one instance of the skill you can be immune 2/3 of the time plus have a hefty damage resistance buff to shields.

yes, every1 run around with science team up 100% of te time, who wants the initial shiled bonus, right?

Rofl look some ignorant poster being ignorant in another thread about viral matrix.

It's the counter to cruiser. Escorts get an ability that can remove it, and science team can counter it if you see it coming.

Yes it lasts alittle too long in PvP, but it's not going to change much.

See, please don't call others 'clueless' when you yourself are the one who doesn't know. Just be nice and ask and maybe instead of calling people names or things overpowered you might learn how to play better. In this case, Science Team skill offers 30s of protection from it on a 45s cooldown. If you cast it on yourself while viral matrix is in the air (shoots like a pink missle, has to be fired forward) you can counter it.

Viral matrix is a high level science ability. Only science ships can even get it.

P.S. Further, science ships give up 2 weapon slots for this ability.

Yes, i run it all the time when soloing. As you can clearly see in the attached screenshot, Science teams I not only gives the instant shield bonus, it also reduces damage to shields by 19%, boosts Starship Operations by 18 and removes any and ALL science debuffs for the duration, not JUST Viral Matrix. As you can also see those other 3 powers i use have their duration and/or magnitude boosted by the Starship Operations skill. Which means as long as I have science teams active on myself, those other skills perform better. In that case of CPB1 That's enough to boost the disable cloaking devices to 20 sec, which means if I don't miss my timing on CPB1 and CPB2's shared 20 sec cooldown, I can effectively block all cloaking within 5km of me indefinitely.

Between the 19% damage reduction to shields from ST1 and the +30% resist bonus from HE1 I can survive a lot of incoming damage for the short time both are active.

Based on your comments, I take it you don't want to make your other Sci skills stronger (so far every one I've seen uses Starship Operations skill to boost it). Apparently you also consider taking less damage to not be any good.
