Simple...give it one universal BO slot. Thats it.

Rightly so , this class is the most useless in the game . Few if anyone flies one after tier 2 . Pretty sure Cryptic is aware of it , if they're not they should start looking at the data. The Raptor offers very little in gameplay or appearance , there is nothing Iconic about it .

I would never even fly it in Tier 2. The ONLY time there is a reason for it is T4, because it has an extra frontal slot that the BoP doesn't.

I'd have to re-examine the ship at other tiers but at T3 I would just upgrade its Ensign Tactical to a Lieutenant Tactical. The Ensign position is pretty useless in my opinion, but a Lt. position would make the Raptor into a more interesting T3 choice.

I'm flying it in T5 at the moment, and I rather enjoy the different pacing from playing a cruiser or a carrier. I can see a raptor working very well with a team, doing more than an extra cruiser would, but on its own it just doesn't qualify.

Besides a universal BO slot, I wouldn't mind a slightly increased turn rate since it is the highest dps ship in the klingon armada.

the raptor aint that bad. i fly one in T2, and sure you have to play smart and let your comrades fire first.
also on 1 on 1 it stands its ground easily, provided you dont let the ship fly around you. but that applies to BoP too.
I find by using the shield energy setting, you are way more durable, and you still pack a punch, due to the low impact of cannons cannon rapid fire on weapon energy.
To sum up, the raptor are for ppl that enjoy a slower pace, know when to strike and flee, and participate actively in the team through heal or focused fire. and it can hold its ground on 1v1.
I guess on T3, things get edgy for the raptor with feds using RSP etc

Part of the problem with the Raptor and the Fed Escort is the lack of options with Tactical Officers. If Tactical had a Lt. Comm. survivability cooldown it'd help those ships quite a bit. Right now the BoP is better in almost every way than the Raptor and part of that is because it's so much more survivable due to the option to use any BO.

Granted this wouldn't fix the problems for Escorts entirely but I think it'd make a big difference, giving them an ability only they (and the BoP and Carrier) can use for utility, not just damage.

I think you are correct there needs to be a TAC/defensive option - maybe something that increases miss % by an amount variable with ship 'size'?
- it wouldn't work for cruisers/science/carriers, but they don't have a massive problem with survivability.
- maybe make it disable battle cloak for 30 seconds to make it bird-of-prey unfriendly.
- ideally make it scale from an ensign ability up to commander or whatever.
- make it only effective against beams/cannons or something?

[I'd also recommend nerfing the heck out of rapid fire...]
