Auxilliary Power to the Emergency Battery I ... ?!

OK. I was intrigued by Auxilliary Power to the Emergency Battery I. I wanted to try it, see what it does.

So I ran Emergency Power to Auxiliary I, which presumably gets the Aux power to be high. Then I ran Auxilliary Power to the Emergency Battery I, which creates the little icon for the battery that lasts for 60 seconds.

Now, the description of Auxilliary Power to the Emergency Battery I states that when you activate the power, it "creates an emergency battery that, when activated, provides a power boost" ... however, although I see the icon for this power, I did not see a change in my power levels, and what's more, I could not for the life of me figure out how to activate the emergency battery that it supposedly creates.

I figured that maybe it just makes Emergency Power to Weapons II more powerful, since that power relies on System: Batteries. Or maybe if I pop a Weapons Battery or Shields Battery, then it would make that give more power than normal.

But as it stands, I cannot for the life of me figure out what this is supposed to be doing for me.

It gives only a 4s boosts to powerlevels/power...but worst about this (otherwise good) ability, is that it shares cooldown with normal batteries (4mins), and with it, its useless period :-)

Wait, what?

I don't understand. What is a "4s boosts to powerlevels/power"? How do you activate the emergency battery that it generates when you run the power?

Since it's sending aux power to the battery it generates, wouldn't it depend on your aux power level, and your skills in that, as to how effective the power was? Also doesn't it vary depending on how many BO skill points are in it, and whether you have the I or the II version of the skill?

I think your answer seems kind of simplistic... I can't see how it's only ever just one cooldown and one set time for all versions and skill levels, etc.

I feel like there has to be something important we're missing about this power, like the fact that Emergency Power to Weapons depends on Batteries, and the Emergency Battery should therefore enhance the usage of Emergency Power to Weapons, etc.
:confused::confused:

No it creates a battery similar to the common ones. This battery does affect all systems at once. You propably experience the notorious bug with it, when the battery does not always appear on your free ability slot. When you use the ability, you can find the battery itself if you press "P"..its called emergency battery small/medium/large, depends on aux setting when it was created.

Indeed. Now I see it. Well, it does seem to set the cooldown of not only the batteries but also the Red Matter Capacitor!! Suck!

And the power level of Aux at the time also determines its duration. Nice. But it does give a monster boost!

But it shares cooldown with other batteries, wich lowers its usabilty drasticaly.

Well, it seems that it would replace batteries. It's like having a Red Matter Capacitor with a 5-minute cooldown that doesn't take up a device slot. Perhaps it's not as good for cruisers, since on a cruiser you have slots for each battery type... whereas an escort can't have each type in its slots going into combat.

Still, though, you do have the benfit of it not costing you a battery each time, and that it applies to each sub-system which never hurts. I mean with regular batteries it is system-specific and they take up inventory space.
