You get a pretty big boost if you have tricoder scan on a science toon.

I probably disintigrate 1 out of 3 people killed.

Its pretty silly to be honest.

Oh yeah and disrupters has nothing to do with it, you can do it with a phaser, and even a bat'leth.

Please dont spread disinformation. This is not true. It doesnt matter what weapon you have :P

Disintegrating someone with a Bat'leth is full of win.

Enemies are vapourised when you use and Exploit attack or ability while they are Exposed, you can tell they are in this exposed state visually by a circular pattern around the enemies chest and/or by observing if your exploit attck on the taskbar is flashing a yellow cross. This is attaianable with any weapon type.

Yeah, but vaporizing someone with an edged weapon is spectacular!! I mean, how hard do you have to hit someone to disintegrate them with your sword?!? That's gotta hurt!

Also, I love it when medics hypospray the recently vaporized back into the fight. That's awesome, too.
