Basic warp mechanics negates this line of thinking. Maybe if the ship was equipped with a Phased Cloaking Device, a la USS Pegasus, it would make sense. Besides, the warp field doesn't shift a ship into subspace.
If warp mechanics did work like this, a ship would be able to travel at warp without having to operate the navigational deflector dish.
Edit: Oh, and personally, I just do the whole manual turn thing as well. Then again, I'm also one of those that flies into an RDD when approaching Earth Space Dock...
