FvK... sucks

I must say I just finnished a FvK battle that lasted 45 mins. 45 mins for a reward that is the same as a starfleet exploration mission. Not to mention the federation just balled up and roamed the feild as a horde. FvK is just boring. I'm glad we have KvK because its hard to enjoy PvP when you never get to attack anyone and when you do 10 fed ships jump you and waste you in less then 10 seconds regardless of any tactics you use.

What is funny is that the fedration players seem to not understand that balling up outside of deathmatches is just a slow death. Randomly and rarely they win but in the end it just is a slow bleed as the klingons cloak and uncloak taking back CPs that the horde just stole and left five seconds ago.

Winning through fear tactics is still winning but I wish there was more skill to FvK but there just isn't. I have no idea how to make the fedration players "brave" and spread out on the battlefield but I've decided I'm going to avoid FvK when possible because of it.

Are you kidding ? If they spread out they will be ganked by the "balled up" invisible Klingon Ships. The Fedball Tactic is actually the right way, they only fail because every one of them just goes for solo survival or picks some absolute ******** BO powers etc.

If they actually support each other with skills like extend shields and focus fire instead of doing "balled up" 1vs1 battles, then the Klingons fail most of the time with their "come out of stealth and burst them away before they do the same to you" tactic...

And let me say, I leveled from LT to General only through FdK, so I pretty much know what I'am talking about.

You can tell this thread was made by a primary federation player........ ^^

As Rash pointed out, spreading out is a suicide for Federation players. Big groups is their viable strategy to counter the cloak. As a Klingon I pick off the 'lost sheep' of the ball first, takes me 15 seconds to destroy a ship and cloak away. So, let them use the ball formation. It works and is an effective counter to our Cloak. And KvK is a joke, first ship to decloak gets rammed by all of the cloaked ship from the opposing team.

I suppose thats right... though they still lose a lot when I play... it just makes it UBER slow. I can't help but shake the feeling that PvP still needs some major balance work. I just find it very boring when I begin to feel like a soccer ball and the federation is a bunch of children playing AYSO the second I uncloak. Perhaps its the battlefeilds... mabey we just need better maps that help players exploit their own strengths and weaknesses. Right now it just feels like a bunch of children running after seaguls untill they fly away and honestly I can't stand that form of PvP.

Yes I maxed out my fed character doing primarily PvE with a bit of PvP. However I was playing Klingon since they launched them at the end of CB and in OB. Since then its been the same complaint. I don't know what it is, or where the problem is I just know that I feel like there is one. I like it when battles become more tactical oriented rather than group up and stick together. I was hoping PvP in STO would be like the parts of DS9 where the dominion war battles played out... one fleet vs another. But so far it hasn't seemed that way... all it is is everyone target the same ship... unleashe, tab next.

Like I said, they lose most of the time because they just do dumb things...

Take the average Fed Cruiser for example... something like 3 or 4 copy's of RSP is actually a quite common sight in T3 upwards PvP. Since Cruisers are most of the time the last ones targeted anyway, this is just a stupid BO Setup, cause all it will accomplish is that you can tank all those Klings solo for some time while all your Allies are dead. How about adding some support abilities to keep the Escorts from being blown appart in the first two seconds of each battle ? Nope, better to fly an immobile whale and try to dish out some damage.

Another common sight is a Clingon Cruiser decloaking and flying with RSP into the Fedball... what do the feds do ? Yes... they shoot the Cruiser and will keep the Focus Fire on him even if there are BoP and Raptors appearing from all sides.

Feds also like to waste Weapon Slots for useless things like Photon Mine Launchers, because they have the delusion those mines could uncloak Klingon Ships (Yes, I've actually seen Feds brag about this fabulous tactic numerous times now).

I could go on forever like this... I dont even know how you managed to have a Match against Feds which lasted fpr 45min. since most of those I join are over between something like 5 to 10min.

However, if there is a group of GOOD Fed players it starts to get interesting... and most of the time Klingons get a nice spanking from them because they are used to those "victims" as opponents and totally fail once their Focus Fire Tactic dosnt work because of a simple extend shields.

thats why we need open PvP...because then no one doing it will be doing it for the loot.

no groups of entitled and unreasonably expectant "play daters" queued in for some quest driven desire for the shortest and most pointless battles so they can grind their way to an empty experience in T5.

Im all for keeping the current PvP sessions in for those who want this type of PvP...but Im really thinking open PvP will be an escape.

The only thing I can add to this is that you must have been playing with a LC Klingon....

After Commander and Captain levels, "wolf packs" of Klingons seem to consistently kick the snot out of Federations ships.... I've seen One Klingon ship get hammered for 60 or more seconds by two or three federation ships and not really get a scratch on it. Something really really changed between LC and Comm for Klingons. When I played against Klingons in the LC level, the fights were pretty even. The only time their even now for Feds as far as I've seen is if the Klingons don't bunch AND there are only less than 2 or more Federation ships (give or take).

Something went whacky. Klingon ships seem to be better armoured AND faster than there federation counterparts. From what I know, Kingon ships should be faster, but should fall apart if someone sneezes on them :)

That does sound nice, and you're right if there was more meaning to the battles and it was a true struggle for holding territory then perhaps the battles would become more stretegic and less chaotic... ball-o-doom.

If you check the Stats on the Ships you would see that Klingon Ships have weaker shields and hull compared to their Federation Counterparts, in turn they get cloaking. The only exception to this is the Carrier...

So if a Klingon Ship appears much more sturdy then the Federation Ships, the only explanation to this would be that the player had a better BO, Equipment and Player Skill setup then you guys... or he had backup from his allys. My fellow Klingons often help me out with their Science Teams, Engineering Teams, Hazzard Emitters or even Extend Shields if they are piloting a Cruiser... Feds, for some reason, dont like to do this...

When I play my Deep Space Science Vessel I'am pretty much the only one giving backup most of the time... if I get under fire, I have to stay alive somehow on my own, cause something like getting a heal from my Fed Allys is very unlikely in most matches.
