How do u get a BO with HIGH YIELD III, if you're an Engineer???

I know that if you go Tactical, you can train your BO to get the High Yield III skill...

But is there any way possible to get a BO with High Yield III skill if you're an Engineer???

Are you able to buy a BO with High Yield III from the Exchange???

Alas no, you have to be a Tactical to get HYT3. On the plus side only engineers get Engineering team 3 and um... ok, we dont get many decent 'engineer only' skills.

Actually, there are three ways that you can get High Yield 3.

1) Purchase a Bridge Officer with HY3 on the Exchange. Then either commission said BO, or use it to train one of your current officers.

2) Receive a random BO that has HY3. Then either commission said BO, or use it to train one of your current officers.

3) Give a brand new uncommissioned BO to a friend with an Engineering captain. Said captain trains that BO in HY3, then trades the BO back to you.

Actually 3) won't work. You can only train officers that joined your crew. And those aren't tradeable, yet.

Oh that's right.

Sorry. I've been looking forward to that and I guess it just slipped out as I was writing. He's right though, you can't do that. Yet.

1 and 2 won't work either maybe in June

Hi

For 1 to work somone has to train an officer in HY3 Torps then place on the exchange. at the moment Bridge officer's can't be taken off the duty roster with out being dissmissed. if player recived a reward brdige officer with that skill it would be extremly rare and they would most likly keep or sell at a stupidly high price.

as for 2, see above i've reach rear admirmal and none of the bridge officers i've been offered to join my crew have had any of locked skills, the only ones that have different from the power store are the very rare bridge officers in the purple colour. i've one and its 4th space power wasn't on the list at the power store.

Im in the same postion with a science officer, and so i put the charcter on hold. his career could well be on hold until June.

In the engineering notes it mentions in deveolpment "•Trading Existing Bridge Officers (June)"

As much as I would personally like to make use of any of these options none of them actually exists.

As HY III is an abilityl that can be unlocked through the player skill tree (well, by tactical captains anyway) it is not found on the "loot table" of BOs received as rank-up rewards. The only player-skilltree unlockable ability that (at least up to season one, haven't checked this since) could actually be found on rare/very rare BOs is/was Attack Pattern Omega III.

Option 3 doesn't work due to the inability to trade/sell comissioned BOs.

On the good side, according to the engineering reports on the website the devs are looking into the creation of a comissioned BO trading system, scheduled to go live at some point in june/july.

Until then however, there is no way at all for an engineering captain to get HY III or any other unlocked tactical ability (with the one single exception mentioned above), and no tactical officer will get any unlockable engineering abilities etc.

Note: engineers do have quite a nice selection of unlockable rank III abilities, for example emergency power to xyz III, engineering team IIII, extend shields III, and so on.

Just two small additions to this, for clarification: as pointed out before with one single exceptions there are no unlockable rank III skills ever to be found on reward BOs.

What those rare/very rare BOs do have though that sets them appart from both the power store and the normal-BO store is: other, not unlockable, rank III abilities and superior racial traits.

If I recall correctly rare (blue) BOs have one superior racial trait, for example andorians have the fury trait which on normal BOs gives an increase of 2.5% to damage done (?), on rare/very rare andorian BOs you can find "superior fury" with gives a 7.5% increase to damage (?). Very rare (purple) BOs have two such superior traits. I might be slightly mistaken on the percentage numbers or the actual effect of fury, but you get the picture.

The special rank III abilities are what makes those rare BOs so interesting though. An excellent example is "beam target shields III" or "viral matrix III". These skills as well as quite a couple of others, can only be optained through those special BOs as they can neither be unlocked by spending skill points nor bought from the power store. This also goes for ground based skills, even though there are only a few of those.

The difference between the different levels of BO rarity determine how many of those unique rank III abilities the officer has.

Well my question. How do I train my Bo's an III skill? Like emergency power to shields.
Is that also on the power store?

The power store does not have any rank III abilities.
As emergency power to shields III is an unlocked engineer ability the only way to train your officers in it is to be an engineering player/captain yourself and invest 9 skill points in "Starship shield efficiency" (commander level, in the "Starship Engineering" subsection).
Once that is done. Open your status window and click "Train officer". Select the unlocked skill that you want to teach your officer and then select the officer to learn the skill.

Note: emergency power to shield III does not replace a lower ranked version of it. It will be placed in the lt.commander ability slot, meaning one level higher than emergency power to shields II.
