How to improve the Fedball

Here a new try. I am sorry if anyone really felt insulted, this was by no means the purpose of this post. I reworked it now and hope it is clean enough for everyone:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hey there!

Currently the tactic of the Fedball isn't used properly and to its full extend, here is why:

Players don't remember why staying close together was important in the first place.

They maybe manage to fly in a compact ball, but still get mopped up badly. The debris from their allies does more harm than it was worth, why?

Because nobody heals
and
Because nobody focuses on a single target

This are the two reasons why staying in a tight ball is important! Heals have a range and enemies do damage as long as they are alive, no matter if their hull is at 100% or 1%.

Why was and is a good Fedball unbreakable for Klingons and was a big grief in beta for them?

Because of extend shields, science team, engineering team, hazard emitters, dampening field, etc, shared on the people that currently needed it, and focus fire that shredded BoPs in 2 seconds, before their finger even reached the button for RSP.
Why were FEDs OP in their Fedball? Because they had beams, shooting in all directions instantly. You don't even need to turn to your enemy. Klingons only had cannons, they had to get into position before a focus fire was possible. Did Cryptic change that? No. So why are we so easily beaten now? Because FEDs don't focus on a target anymore! You got 4 lousy beams aimed on every single enemy, instead of 20 at one!

So please consider the following the next time you get into a PvP-match:

First step:
Bring heals for your allies. If you are a cruiser ditch 2 of your 3 RSPs and bring 2 extend shields instead - this will make one ally invulnerable for the whole time! when the 2nd extend runs out the first is ready again. Now chain the escort around you to you (and you to him) and you got an invulnerable paindealer, not one that is dead 2 seconds after the fight began.
Second step: Use those heals on your allies! I know everyone out there got at least 1 science team on his ship, why do I hardly ever receive one when I am the one getting focus fired or VMd and you are all fine? Don't worry, we will all pay you back when you need it! That's 5 times more heals for everyone when he needs it! An enemy seems to shoot bubbles if you got 5+ buffs on you!
Third step: Focus Fire! To begin there are two easy ways to set it up: Name one teammate and everyone else has to shoot at the target this teammate took. You can see his target either by looking or clicking on the ally, and then seeing his target on the bottom right of his status-bars.
Or use fancy keybord-macros like /bind TheKeyYouWantToBind "team All attack $target"
This will bind TheKeyYouWantToBind to a message in the teamchat saying "All attack [the target you currently selected]" This won't get all 5 on your target, but most of the times 3 or more, that's a good start and doesn't require so much oversight from your allies as number one.

You win as soon as you are able to keep your allies alive longer than it takes you to kill your enemies!
Skills like SNB and VM and most of all the other overpowered ones are rendered useless against a decent Fedball that takes over the healing needs of the single person.

Play as a team, supporting each other, not just people using the teamchat to fill it with emptiness until you can finally jump out immediately after the game ended.[/quote]

Seems... reasonable. ;)

Can I subscribe other people to your newsletter, too?

DAMN RIGHT!!

Nobody is a one-man army in PvP.

Not exactly true, vs a prepared Fed/KDF team, but for the most vs a PuG can be true.
Takes that person staying w/ in the range, etc, and yea...

I think they'll use ES, and get fired on, and cry that they can't RSP, so will hold the ES, even if they took it, in the 1st place.

My fear, is that everyone and their brother, after this next patch goes live, will be stacking FBP, instead of other science powers. It's going to be the RSP+FBP stack spam.

With the popularity of target subsystem shields and the new change to SNB (kills all buffs, also FBP and RSP) I don't see a big problem here. Plus the only ship that can stack multiple RSPs and FBPs is the BoP, and even this ship would sacrifice a lot for it.

I am glad I found many people agreeing with me, now I only need a way to force people that actually need this advice to read it.

I still can't believe how the level of gameplay dropped drastically from Beta-levels (awesome fedballs, big Klingon grief), to now (everyone soloing, just looking on themselves. I got a total of 1 teaminvites while playing through 4 tiers of pvp as a FED, in all the other games I was the one spamming the invite. Even if I got in 5mins later, in a running game, the chance to see teams on the FED-side was around 30%, and this teams covered maybe 50% of the current allies. WTF?)

nice post, 100% from me, i mentioned in anotehr post as an aside that following these simple (and yet somehow at the same time impossibly difficult rules) that the so called imbalance at t1 (which i am currently fly my miranda) would disappear to a greater extent

Let me guess, it addressed the moronic tendency of certain people to rush in without waiting for the rest of the battle group to catch up? And then they complain about a lack of backup?
