Clasicc MMO "Aggression" skill
In STO Engineers were made to be tanks but what i see is that they don't the basic tank ability, I mean "The Aggression" which make enemies to attack him instead for example an escort which is in team with Engi.

That type of skill is referred to as a Taunt in MMO lingo.

STO relies on a somewhat different mechanic for aggro control than other games, if an escort wants to dump aggro on a cruiser it just has to run out of range of the enemies real quick while the cruiser keeps shooting at them. It works, it's just a little less straight forward than having a taunt button.

If you wish to lose aggro, you could train, equip and use the Jam/Scramble Sensors BO abilities and execute Evasive Maneuvers (or an Engine Battery), that usually lets me get away safely if I need to.

But you should tweak these skills to manipulate your aggro on a target, because its pretty quick when an escort starts firing on a target and it pays attention to the escort due to aggro. I understand that Cryptic was going for a different approach to combat, but they also have the highest aggro producers with the weakest hull. The only tactics are to use sensor jam, which I use alot myself. However using engines are harder, because most escorts turn their engine power down to push that into weapons, or a little bit extra shields.

I agree that engineers should have some sort of taunt ability. Or make that another tactical maneuver. Attack pattern Theta or Pi or something. So that cruisers can use that in a tactical slot while not sacrificing an engineer slot with would be a little contradictory to lose a tanking ability to gain an ability that would force them to truly tank more often

there are some powers that seem to aggro the NPCs out of proportion. Tractor beam and Tractor repulsors seem to be a good way to draw attention.

Stop thinking in the 'Tank, Healer, DPS' mindset. Think outside the triangle.

Cruisers are meant to support other ships with strong heals, not necessarily tank. You can get fire at will and get the aggro of everything else the escort isn't shooting at, but primarily if you want to be a good team player cruiser, you heal your escorts.

i have been posting about this on and off since release. a mmo without any form of taunt simply wont work.

simple reason. a cruiser lack the dps to kill thing quickly but it gain the ability to take damage, but what good is its ability to take damage if it never get any agro. since the agro in this game is entirely dps based, a escort will always take the agro. thus making a cruiser useless as a dps class and useless as a main tank class (mmo speak, this mean the player who will keep boss agro, at all times).

a simple fix is to simply give a cruiser an innate 50% bonus on threat (another mmo speak, threat equals perceived (not actual) damage modified by some factor)

Throwing out the standard MMO formula and replacing it with in universe mechanics would help STO a great deal.

if this game did not meant to follow the standard trinity, then it wont have the standard class structure. so why dont it have the most basic spell of a standard trinity mmo

escort = dps/glass cannon
innate +15 weapon power = +30% damage
innate -?% shield and hull strength
ability to use cannon = +?% base weapon damage (most likely about 15%, look at the tooltips)
ability to high rank tactical powers = +50% damage with CRF3 (for example)

need i say more
