NOT HAPPY - Lifetime buyers beware - overcharged for lifetime subscription !!!!

Mods this might not be the right place so please move as you see fit but I am absolutely livid. I bought a Lifetime subscription in good faith and I chekc my bank this morning to find that instead of being charged 153 ive been charged 230.99 which is a disgrace. Cryptic you cant do anything right can you ? worse thing is in the UK no phone support and no online billing support :(

editied my post with the price it went through. I misheard the person at my bank on the phone. So I saw liftime at 153 (plus a few pennies) and paid 230.99

1) there was a problem with the lifetime sub not being decreased in price. they have already said this and you should be able to raise a ticket with billing here.

2) dont forget that price is before UK tax so it will be more expensive than the 153

Thanks Revo appreciate the info. I did search before I bought and didnt see any problems on the forums at the time. And yes I realise I rounded the figures up/down :)

Yes the website has been having problems recently, so hopefully it will be fixed. I myself don't understand British economics so I can't help there i'm afraid.

Rough guesstimate is that it should cost 190 in the UK, with 20% VAT.

Yeah, that's nearly 40 quid more to Mr. Taxman.

Even if it were sold at the original price and not the discounted one, that would only be about 225 with tax.

Really don't know where the 239 comes from, unless there's hidden costs for currency exchange.

We are charged 20% VAT so it will be the price as shown. Assuming the 20% discount for the anniversary is not shown.

Unfortunately its not the price that is shown.

Take a look at the small print halfway down the page. VAT is added thereafter.

It could be worse. You could have brought your Lifetime mid-December like me, yet thats sales for you. Who knows when a sale is on the cards?
Sometimes i save, sometimes i pay premium just like everyone else. Its all swings and runabouts :p
Either way, i adore STO and i'm very happy to be a Lifer, regardless if its an absolute steal right now. Being a student, the savings would have helped immensely right now.

sorry i was rounding up and roundng down but I have fallen trap to the same thing that is happening to others. Its now been 4 hours since i put a ticket in though and no response :( thing is ive been around a year but if i was just buying this game id be less forgiving thats for sure. Its very very bad that no one thought to check on cryptics part before they advertised it. In the Uk they would be brought up in court by the office of fair trading for break sales description. In the Uk you can advertise a high price but sell at a low price. But if you chrage higher than the advertised selling price then you can be fined.

I don't get what you mean.

Its all there, with displayed countries and * for small print, so no, Cryptic would not have been brought up in court by the Office of Fair Trading unless they were a British company falsely advertising. Yet they are not, are they.
Cryptic aren't advertising low and selling high, its VAT. Buy something internationally and get stung nationally, its something we in Europe (and of course plenty of other places) have to live with. Blame the grand scheme of things, and not Cryptic on this one.

Look Green 117 I was over charged and other people are having the same issue. I bought at the advertised price of 153 (not taking into account VAT yes I know there is VAT) however I had 230.99 come out of my account so even at 20% VAT it still doesnt display the difference. Ive worked in retail and you can advertise a product with a shelf edge label with a price on it. If it goes through the Point of sale at a higher price than the shelf edge ticket (ie you charge more than you advertise) your breaking the law. Please dont feel the need to flame me i love this game but this really is a bad bad error on cryptics part.
