Klingon "Delta Flyer" coming soon?
 

i see the feds get the delta flyer in the C-store.
(i picked up one on my feddie alt)

i also see the federation will get the "captains yaht" for the 400 day reward.
i also noticed the klingon players will recieve the gul-hod aux craft for their 400 day reward.

however there is no mention of a klingon version of the delta flyer!

it would be nice if the klingon could get their hands on a highly customizable shuttle craft.
it would also be nice if klingons got the same considerations as the feddies do in the c-store ;)

i think it would be fair if the klingons got a craft that matched the delta flyer exactly, but with a different skin!
for the same price int he C-store as the delta flyer of course.

however...

it would be even better if the klingon players got a more "klingon like" shuttle.

maybe a shuttle that can cloak, has a single universal bridge officer slot, and could possible equip a single dual cannon, and possibel a single rear weapon.

if anything... i think it would be the cloaking ability that would be most appreciated by klingon players... even if the shuttle would have to sacrafice some other aspect.

so in closing...

I agree! I'm always for more KDF ships. As for our C-Store shuttle, I would love to see one with Klingon, Orion, Gorn etc. ship skins.

I am actually going to have to disagree a little bit here. Though in general I am for more KDF ships and KDF ship skins, there is something here we have to realize with the Delta shuttle. The shuttles and captain's yacht's are for all intents and purposes balanced to one another. They have their minor differences which is enough to seperate them far enough that they are not all the same ship. But they are close enough in balance that I would not say the Delta Flier is any better or worse then the Toron, Runabout, or Yacht's. The biggest differences would come from the captain's play style and skill, not in the ship itself.

Now that aside, -why- is the Delta Flier in the game? Simple, it was in the show. It was an iconic part of mid and later Voyager. It was a cool ship. That is precisely why we see the Vorcha, the Neghvar, the BoP, the Intrepid, the Galaxy, the Defiant, the Sov, etc, etc, etc. Iconic ships from Star Trek that people love to fly, the actual mechanics of the ships aside. They are a cosmetic benefit. And combined with my first point, that I believe the shuttles are well balanced, the Delta's -only- purpose is for the cool factor. The "Hey, I'm piloting the freakin Delta Flier!!" feeling is worth it to some people for them to spend 400 atari tokens.

Now, what iconic Klingon Shuttle/Fighter craft do you have in mind that you think we should have? ............No, go on, I'll wait here while you think.

From what I can find the only type of ship like that in Star Trek is the Toron class shuttle. The Dev's had to invent our variant of the Captain's Yacht.

So essentially the only reason the Delta exists in the game is cosmetic and iconic purposes. There is not KDF side ship that fits the same slot (iconic shuttle), so I do not think that because the Feds have the Delta we should have anything else added to the KDF.

Now if you want to make the argument "Wow, the Feds have 5 different shuttles, the KDF have 2, and this is including the Yacht's for both sides. The KDF need more." maybe you have a valid point there, I don't know. Frankly though I see the shuttles as an amusing diversion but not something that is truly worthy of taking Dev attention. If we are going to have them work on more KDF ship/ship skins, I'd rather it be for craft I'd actually use.

If I recall correctly, the Delta and that new Vulcan shuttle (both C-Store) have "2" BO slots to our 1 BO slot shuttles. That to me can make a pretty big difference when you're looking at just one skill to use. Even though the K'Toch class was a 1 man scout ship in the show, the Empire could have modified it to fit a small crew in the last few hundred years.

The Vulcan shuttle is a horse of a different color as far as I am concerned because it's bundled in with the D'Kyr Science ship. You have to spend either 1200 atari tokens or 500 marks of exploration/emblems for that. But yes, I do agree that as far as the ships that are currently in the game it is the most powerful shuttle. It has naturally Aux to SIF if I remember right as well as two Sci BO's. You could take HE and Sci Team 1, slap some Borg gear on it for the shield/hull heal and be practicly invincible next to any of the other shuttles. It has no shield penalty, and it has the highest hull. 6500 as opposed to 6000 on most of the other shuttles(Duj'hod, Toron, Captain's Yacht, Runabout). It's got 2 device slots which is tied with the Captain's Yacht and Duj'hod. Largest crew for any shuttle, whatever that's worth. In fact the only negative point about it at all is it has by far the lowest turn rate out of any shuttle. 15 deg/sec where as all the rest are 22-28. So yes, I'd say they're all balanced except for the D'Kyr support shuttle, which is better.....but it's not something that really bothers me.

As far as the extra BO slot of the Delta, that does add a -little- bit of customizability to it. But you have to remember it doesn't have a free BO power like most of the other shuttles. Toron=Jam Sensors, Runabout=Tractor Beam, and both 400 day Vet reward shuttles get EPtShields. So you could if you want use the Sci slot for a Tractor beam, and boom, it's a Runabout. Tractor Beam + Ensign BO slot. Now since you can do, say, HY Torp 1 and Hazard Emitters with the Delta, I do suppose you can say it's better than the others in it provides more customization than ships where you are locked into a power. But on matters this small I think it's splitting hairs.

Also the Delta's special ability is +10% shield capacity, but it also has 5500 hull points. And considering as I don't think you're going to get more than 5k shields on the Delta (Which would mean the sheild capacity increase would give you 500 more shields) I think that the lower hull and higher shield capacity even eachother out.

As far as the K'Toch, I suppose...But it'd feel more right to me if it was the KDF version of the Type-8, not the Delta.

I don't see any reason to duplicate the Delta, I would like to see our own unique C-Store shuttle. I like the idea of 1 Tac 1 Uni. layout, less crew and hull but a 10 to 20% boost to weapons.

I can see a whole new PvP thing going on in the future with these new shuttles.

The Tal'Kyr Support Craft has a crew of *25*, which is far more than any shuttle. In fact, I would go so far as to that it is not intended to BE a shuttle, but a "support craft", as it says. With that large a crew, it probably has a deck layout, and multiple rooms, if not more than one deck. Keep in mind that the Defiant has a crew of 50.

It's probably classified in game terms as a shuttle for consistency with the others, but it's large enough that it could easily have two Bridge Officers and three console. It probably doesn't have more so as not to be imbalanced. And I'm sure the in game model will turn out to be much larger than a standard shuttle as well.

The Type 8's "special" ability is -10% shield capacity. :D So no, I don't think that's a special ability as much as a balance to the ship's resiliance. The Runabout should be a little tougher, with the Captain's Yacht even tougher since IIRC it has EP to Shields. The Flyer is probably the equivalent of a fighter, since it is faster and more manueverable than the other Shuttles. It's just, you know, Federation types don't build warships and call them warships, they call them "Flyers" and "Escorts" and things like that. :D

bah, we don't need no fancy shuttle. Why bring a shuttle to do a war ship's job? For the KDF, a shuttle is just a transport...nothing else. Think about...BoPs can perform atmospheric flight, the B'rel is a much better at filling the role of uber-shuttle than any shuttle out there.
