NPC Movement?
Trying to make a simple fleet battle mission.
Where the player recieves a priority assignment to join a fleet engagement.

I can't seem to find a way to get the two 'sides' to engage one another.
Should be as simple as getting the two sides to move to within combat range and let the AI go from there, but I can't seem to find anything other then 'wander' for NPC's.
How do I get a specific (or group of) NPC's to move from point A to point B?

Right now there isn't one as far as I know.

Frankly I'd like to see a way to make NPC's or objects to move between set points added to the Foundry.

I would think this would be one of the first basic tools you would need to create a mission.

So I gather then the only way to have two entities engage would be to spawn them on top of one another.

I was hoping for a 'stand-off' - 'provocation' - 'engagement' sort of battle, but I guess I'll just have to have the player join a battle already in progress.

Currently, you can onlylet NPCs wander, which is random movement.

What you could do is letting them warp in within 10km of each other. They should start to fight. I haven't tried it, though.

I did this on Tribble. I was trying to create a joint Cardassian/Federation operation against the Borg. I put the Cardassians about 17km from the Federation Fleet and then had the Borg drop in between them. Since the story called for the Cardassians to be wiped out, I only put five Ensign-level Cardassian ships while warping in six Borg Dreadnaughts. The Fed fleet held their own, but the Cardies were wiped out rather quickly.

C'mon..this seems practical...
While creativity is its own reward, I just can't believe you can make NPC Contacts or Groups travel to a waypoint....but no, there HAS to be a way to do it!

I remember a mission Fed players could get where a transport made its way to a station, and you had to escort them. Or how about the mission where you had to scan freighters and the freighters were warping in at specific points and were also clearly proceeding towards a specific point. While I am thankful for what we have, I don't understand why the players be given this necessary tool?

Another important thing I'd like to see: NPC's who "escort" the player by following them. This would be a great tool.

Give us the ability to assign the player NPC "friends" - not groups. I want to be able to drop in a Stargazer class and tell it to follow the player. When the player enters combat, the stargazer would help out. C'mon, that seems pretty practical...:o

i've not looked into this myself, but from what i can gather, isnt this something you could set up as a "job" in the NPC behaviour tab?

i mean, put in an object at your destination and set the NPC to interact with said object, then turn wander off.

like i said, not messed with jobs yet, if my understanding of what i've read about it is right though, that should work out...
