Review period, how long?
Just a question to all the folks here. How long does it seem to take for your missions to get the required "X" number of ratings to go fully public? There seems to be a flood of missions in the review tab.
Of my two missions, one was released 5 days ago, and the other 2 days ago, and they each only have been rated once (this with sharing the mission info in several threads here, and posting to StarbaseUGC). And now that I've revised them after those ratings, I'm assuming they no longer count toward getting out into the public pool. Just curious. I'm actually a bit surprised. I thought people would be eating up new missions. But I'm guessing the way the sorting works in the mission search also tends to stack the odds against new missions, since any highly reviewed missions that have been revised will stack to the top of the review-tab search. I'm guessing the ratio of authors:reviewers is fairly high. :) For those who'd like to take a look at my missions (and help me get out of reviewer hell), here they are: The first one is a fairly simple mission. I realize this. It was my "I'm learning the Foundry" mission, but it still plays cleanly: "Of Minds and Men" Start: Wolf 359, Sirius Sector Block Faction: Starfleet, level 41+ FoundryID: Holodeck, ST-HBF3QVJTL (A Stafleet vessel has gone missing near Wolf 359, under mysterious circumstances. You will need to board the ship and find out what happened) The second one is entirely story driven, but still has plenty of combat: "Death by a Thousand Paper Cuts" Start: Vulcan System, Sirius Sector Block Faction: Starfleet, level 16+ FoundryID: Holodeck, ST-HODKC3CNY (Your mission is to aid a science experiment in a distant star system. But of course, things don't go as planned. Is it a conspiracy?) |

Review period isn't about "how long". There is no set time. It depends on how many peple play your mission. Once enough people play it, it will go to public.
This is the major reason a few of us have been talking about grind missions. The more missions on the Foundry that are grinds/farms the less likely anyone plays a good story mission. The less that play it, the less likely someone will play it becasue it won't reach public. I understand the reasons for the system working like this...but it is what makes dealing with a slew of fram missions a dirty prospect. |

Sorry I don't have a better answer than "it depends". :)
My first mission it got out quickly only because my fleet mates jumped on it and got 5 in relatively short time. The second one, which I think is an improvement, and where I am DYING to know if I pulled a trick off people will like, is stuck with 2 reviews for.... a week? Maybe 4 days. I think having a fleet willing to take their time to look at your material helps. Which makes me very appreciative of the people here on this particular section of the forums who are volunteering to review material. I am tempted to see if a Foundry based fleet is a good idea to put in place. :) I would say, hang in there, try the advert here and perhaps in Starbase UGC, and sooner or later it'll get that 5 review to move it out of reviewer status. |
It should be mentioned that people have to actually review as a REVIEWER. Reviewers are voluntary but have access to all of the content that is published but not yet moved to Holodeck.
From what I can see so far is that the ratio of Foundry Missions to those missions that are in need of review is prettty high right now. What that means is that missions published and waiting for final release may or may not get done for some time. Further, it is a somewhat random process. I just started reviewing myself and there are a lot of man-hours of content to review. Some of it is pretty easy as there are some "griefing" missions showing up which makes it pretty much an in and out. If you are waiting for a Foundry mission to make it to Holodeck and you are not a reviewer, I suggest you sign up. You do this from the Community Content screen. It is not a life long commitment as you can opt out at any time. |
So far? About three days and no reviews... :(

Well, here's a little more data. My mission that is now 5 days old is still stuck at one rating. The one that's 2 days old pushed past the magic five today.

I'm having trouble getting anyone to play my missions as well.
I know they're not as epic as some, but I'd like to think they're pretty standard. |
