Mustrums Space Combat Lessons - Foundry PvP Tutorial
 

I threatened to do it, spammed Fleet Channel(s) and the OrganizedPvP forums, and now I have published it.

The mission is called Mustrums Space Combat Lessons. (No possessive apostrophes allowed in Foundry. At least not the one I wanted to use. :p)


The mission has 3 parts, each part comes with an overview ("lesson") over the powers and abilities relevant for the exercise.

The Endurance Test
Basically learn to endure tons of damage and the value of shield and hull hardening and healing rotations. It is basically a tanking guide (with the caveat mentioned in the description that you can't just tank in PvP, as no one shoots at you if you're invulnerable but harmless.)

Healing Test
Here you are asked to help a bunch of Federation ships to stay alive against their enemies. No one is stopping the player from shooting everyone, but the NPCs won't complain... (much).

Damage/Burst Test
This is pretty traditional, in theory - you have to destroy 3 enemy ships, but each is surrounded by a fleet of allies. A powerful burst should make your life easier, but crowd control effects can also help.


The mission isn't the "perfect" PvP test, but I hope that anyone that would spend some time following the dialog would understand a few basic PvP and teamwork concepts, and might have even have something to test against.

I would appreciate constructive feedback:

• Where am I telling nonsense?
• Spelling and Grammar errors - I can't see them anymore after staring for hours on my texts.
• What else can I improve.
• Benchmarks - how well did you do? Did you die with your ship (tanking in an Escort can be hard. Could your healer build keep all Fed ships alive? With or without extra enemies? At all difficulty levels? I am assuming Era will be facerolling through the tank & healing part :p)

Mustrum,I haven't tried it yet....but from your mission description I gather there is no 'tutorial' on how to use cloak in PvP?

No. It's just one mission, and the stealth part would be hard to integrate well. I kina regret it is all one mission and you have to go to all parts to finish it. (Though you can finish all parts quickly if you ignore the informal objectives - nothing is stopping you from Evasive Maneuvering and Emergency Power to Engine through the "tanking" part. But I didn't want to spend 3 of my 10 mission slots with it either. :p

Though if you have some ideas, I might be able to build in at least some advice on how to approach some parts of the mission (most likely the final part - cloak can help you get into a good firing position, delaying the enemies attack. And Battle Cloak would certainly work well to break the fight once your enemy is down.

Hey Mustrum, is thee a preferred level range for this or will level up for a VA?

I intentionally used enemies that are available at all levels, though I would probably suggest Commander Level or higher. You realy want to have a few powers for the tanking and healing parts, and there isn't much burst potential at lower levels either.

The mission is not setup in a way that you could really fail, you might just have to respawn more often (but there are enough respawn points that it should not be too horrible.)

Well I looked for it Fed side and KDF side, I cut and pasted the title of it off this page, I did a custom search that included the title, the title with your user name, and just for missions authored by you and for some weird reason I can't find it. LOL I was able to find another forumite's game yesterday. I even went so far as to hand scroll through all the new ones under the normal entries and the ones under "review." I must be hopeless today.

Hmm. i always found it best by searching for " Mustrum". They search field (despite its name) also considers author name and description.

I'll check it myself later. There is a possibility you still need to look for it in the Review Content tab. It is Fed only (no multi-faction missions possible yet, unfortunately.)
