Any use for the Luna?

So I'm mostly using my Nebula with my sci officer, but I was wondering if anyone has found that the Luna continues to be worth using or, if you want a fast ship, you're always better off with the Intrepid refit?

I love my RSV, and wouldn't trade it in for an Intrepid. Ever. It's great for straight up wrecking people.

Even if you're looking for a fast ship (via turn rate), the RSV has a higher turn rate than the Intrepid.

Still rocking the Luna myself. Speed wise the Luna and Intrepid feel the same to me. Really it comes down to what you want me, the extra tactical boff and console or the science boff and the ablative armor. Personally I find the ablative armor is only useful as an "oh crap" button and I benefit more from the added tactical power.

The luna is the bestestes of the best science ships :P unless you want only science or a hybrid healer build....

The RSV is a phantastic offensive sci ship and it turns like a dream. The 2. tac ensign allows to fit a Tac Team in without sacrificing whatever (just great against Borg). This ship would be perfect as an attack vessel with Dual Beam Banks if not all the saucer options would have totally stupid weapon hardpoints, so it looks just ugly firing dual beams.

It's nice...the so called "VA" ships really have no edge on it (except, perhaps, the Nebula's hull boost - but it comes with a loss in maneuverability ).

If you outfit it with 3x consoles boosting your energy weapons, it can almost overcome the science vessel's lack of damage; If you use 3x torpedo consoles, you get a nice bomber...getting through shields might get tricky, but is feasible with the right powers :)

This said, the poor Luna class suffers from the current skills tree setup: if you spec'd / respec'd to try out the Intrepid/Nebula, you won't be very effective with it. My trusty Luna sits in the shipyard, covered in space dust.

The sooner they narrow the T5 skills to just "escort, cruiser, science", the better :)

Man, now I want to go back and give it a try but I don't even know how many respec tokens I have saved up and they're not listed under assets.... Was it ever possible to respec for energy credits or am I just confused?

There is one down side to the RSV, it has the lowest hull of all the science vessels. This being so, you'll probably end up getting focus fired a lot, because you'll pop sooner and because you pose a pretty big threat. I prefer the Intrepid, but that's just me :).

The RSV has the advantage of being the Sci ship that can most easily slot a TacTeam to boost survivability immensely :D
