We need a 3rd Ground weapon slot

Hi all!

I've been trying stuff out on tribble (both alone and with my fleet) and we've come to the conclusion the changes to the ground combat system (AWESOME BTW) requires that we have a third ground weapon slot.

Basically, we want to be able to have our sniper rifles out first, then as the enemy closes on our position, we switch to close range weapons (pistols/shotguns/etc). Then finally we switch to melee weapons.

Right now we can't do this since we can't switch out equipment when we are in combat (red alert).

I realize that there may be technical/coding issues with this, but it is something that I think the community would love to see, and really adds to the new ground combat (again, AWESOME)

What does everyone think? If you love this idea, pass it on! Spread the word!

Or Expose, Exploit and melee :)

It's not a terrible idea... but I'd note that you don't really need to do it this way. Non-Assault weapons have a 3-hit melee combo built into them now; so you can have a Long and a Short range weapon, and then use whichever one is not an Assault weapon to beat the snot out of someone if they get too close.

i think 2 is enough, it makes you choose the best comprimise and incourages diversity, my personal fav at the moment is sniper minigun with mainly exposey BOs

I'd be willing to discuss a melee weapon only slot.
