New Ent-F: Super sexy but need this fixed!

I love the new render of the Enterprise F a lot. I think it looks really, really nice! .......That is except the back portion. I think it now looks just like your standard post Sovereign assault ship back. Nothing stands out about it. It's just kind've boring.

Now I really fell in love with the back portion of this version of the Enterprise-F. I think it looks very unique and makes it look very different from most other Starfleet designs! It's really something I think should be put back into the design. It's something that I would be willing to fight for to be put back in, maybe...

So what do you guys think, which back do you like? I know which one I think looks better!

(BTW amazing job on everything else guys!)

I don't know that there's a huge contradiction there. The F's signature power is that the saucer separates and the tail breasks off to form an attack craft. I think the paintover just shows what it looks like with the attack ship deployed.

The Devs (CapnLogan) did confirm that the aft portion of the secondary hull was going to have a classic shuttlebay.

I'm not sorry to see the 'pincer' go. If the auxiliary craft is implemented, it'll likely come fro elsewhere.

Pretty bad idea.

The pincer is an interesting concept, to be sure. But it looks better... y'know, not on the Enterprise.

I agree. Cryptic needs to remember that this is the Enterprise and shes got to have certain looks to her, like a circloid saucer, not an angled saucer.

From the front view, it looks as if the 'pincers' may still exist on the underside. Perhaps there is where the auxiliary craft will dock, right under the shuttle bay.

I actually like the way they've made the aft-end of the secondary hull. it's a little broader - even a little blocky - but it supports well the RCS thrusters they decided to put there. I also quite enjoy the thinner hull flaring from there that sweeps to the side into the pylons and forward toward the primary hull: it feels to me like it's a bit inspired from the Ambassador-class... and that was a good point I found from the Ent-C so I'm happy to see that.

As for Azurian...

I think that's a very valid point from Al Rivera. A lot of starfleet ships were going in that direction and I can entirely relate with the decision.

Besides, the people at Cryptic aren't necessarily the only ones whom have had such design ideas. Cryptic's design actually shares a lot of points in common with the two Enterprises a modder going by the name DJ Curtis made for Bridge Commander. There's a good part of the dorsal view of the secondary-hull-pylons-and-nacelles that reminds me of his Ent-F (Century-class), and the primary hull's resemblance with his Ent-G (Eclipse-class) is uncanny (I don't consider this plagiaristic: great minds may think alike after all).

If that game's fan community of modders really got a kick from DJ Curtis' designs, I don't see why Cryptic's design should be condemned for having similar traits. for that matter, the BC community seemed much less hung up on having ships share overt design lineage too. I don't see why we can't take a page from them - they've been at it for far longer.

You know, from the general shape of the aft end, I just got a picture (based on your commant) about something shaped like the Sacagawea popping down, deploying its nacelles and then darting off. Of course, that Perpetual design is a bit too small for that, but it was an appealing image. Besides, the Sacagawea's deisgn would be dated next to the Ent-F; they'd probably need to stylize their auxiliary shaft to match design style (just like Voyager had the Type-9 shuttle drew design pointers from the Intrepid-class itself) - nacelle design, for example.

When it comes to the Bridge Commander Modders, I'll let them speak for themselves.

But I will agree that if you look at it one way, yes the Cryptic-Prize does look similar to DJ Curtis's Enterprise-F. Except Cryptic went with a dual neck while Curtis remained true to the belief that Starfleet would continue with the neckless design that would continue all the way to the Enterprise-J.

(Come to think of if, the premise of the DTNE was that it would be similar to the J. I really don't notice any similarities there either).

If I had to choose, I'd side with DJ Curtis's design being the Enterprise-F. His ship is logical in progression and the lines of the ship nicely mesh together, while Cryptic is going with a layered design that is typical of their in-game designs. (They asked not too long ago why people hated their designs, thats partly why, the layeredness).

The "pincer" on the paint over reminds me of a Federation flare of a Cardassian design. I agree it is an interesting design feature but, I personally think it would look better on a smaller craft......say an escort.

I too like this recent render. The necks are a lot smoother and flow better. The addition of the bay doors is welcomed. I can't wait to see her in game.

*rage*

Why do so many people think this? Where was this ever stated? Please show me, I implore you. Anyone, really.
