Build Advice: Engineer Captain - DSSV

I haven't played in a long while, since the initial release, and it seems like a lot has changed since that time, so I'm curious to know what a competitive build would look like for an Engineer Captain with a DSSV. I'm also considering the Intrepid Retrofit, but only because I'm a fan of the ship, not necessarily it's attributes. I currently have the Breen set, transphasic torpedoes (x2) and phaser beam arrays (x4) both with console/passive/skill buffs, if anything I think it's my BO's that could use the most attention.

Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.

What type of build are you looking for? Support? Heals? DPS? CC?

And, most importantly, PvE or PvP?

I would say primarily PvE and DPS/CC as I mainly solo, but like I said, I'm open to suggestions too.

just quickly done up, Something like the following might work for you,

Cdr Sci : Tractor Beam, Scramble Sensors, Viral Matrix, Gravity Well
Ltc Sci : Sci Team, Transfer Shield Strength, Hazard Emitters
Lt Tac : Fire at Will, Attack Pattern Delta
Lt Eng : Power to Shields, Aux to SIF
Ens Eng : Eng Team

This looks pretty good to me.

However, I'd swap out Attack Pattern: Delta for Beta, bump Scramble Sensors up to Scramble Sensors 2 (replacing Viral Matrix) and take Tractor Beam Repuslors in it's place.

Good, recommend tachyon beam in the VM slot.

Good.

Good, keep AP Delta, debugging an entire spawn firing at you instead of one you're firing on is excellent. If you want, pair APDelta with Feedback Pulse (in the VM slot) for more fun! Also Torp High Yield is also a good fallback choice if you can't make up your mind.

Iffy choice with Aux to SIF. The rank 1 isn't as good. However, high Aux of science ships should alleviate that.

Recommend drop the eng team and put in another EP Shields. Cycle both.

Just curious why you'd go with the DSSV? As an Engineer character, you could take that survivability to the Recon Science Vessel and take advantage of the better offence and turn rate. Since your focus is solo PvE, you'll want to be able to do as much damage as possible, and I think the RSV is the better choice for that.

Aside from that , all the builds mentioned would work great. I agree with dropping the engineering team and take another EPtoShields for perma cycling.

These are the science skills I would go with:

CDR: Tractor Beam I, Hazard Emitters II, Tachyon Beam III, Gravity Well III
LTC : Sci Team I, Transfer Shield Strength II, Scramble Sensors II (For enemy group encounters)
Alt LTC: Sci Team I, Transfer Shield Strength II, VM I (For single target encounters)

Good luck
