Buying a ship

I heard there was a ship that you started out with that you could buy and it was the NX ship from the show Enterprise. Do you start with it in the tutorial? Also anything else that is a necessitous or a definite get from the store for a newbie?

You have to buy it from the store. You'll do the tutorial in a Miranda-style ship, then you can select the Enterprise-style ship once you get to the Earth Starbase.

TOS Constitution - has 20% extra HP, an extra engineering console, and blue phasers that level with you
NX - has an extra tactical console, grappler ability, and best turn rate of starting ships.
Oberth - has an extra science console, Enhanced Plasma Manifold console, +5 auxiliary power, and sensor analysis. Has better turn rate than Miranda.

The only thing I would recommend from the store for a beginner is probably the liberated borg engineer. :)

I like the NX. It's a nice little "escort" type of ship for T1. I currently have a Captain 5 Engineer who's still flying the NX as part of a challenge to see if I can make it all the way to VA in an NX. :)
