Pvp peeps, would u rather photon or quantum lanucher if....

Not really a pure pvp question, but I also know people who pvp usually aren't generally total idiots when compared to the rest of the game population, and as I want the perspective of those who generally think more along the lines of high utility and effectiveness, here I am.

I've been using 1xquantum fore for a long time now, but recently I won a mk xi photon torp launcher [crth]x3 whereas the best quantum i have is only generic [acc] [dmg]x2.....

I think i could get 50mil if i selling the launcher, but if you all make enough noise at me (good argument) as to keeping and using the crthx3 launcher, well, i'll cough up the $5 or so to respec to photon torps.

I'm va, Tac in an advanced escort(with multivector mod), generally run with 3 ap dhc's and 1xtorp w/ 2 ap turrets 1 ap beamarray aft.
Abilities that relate to torps, THY2 +1 and TS2

Ty for the input and sharing ur experience.

Quantums are in general the better torp. The travel faster hit harder... the higher base dmg makes for larger crits. The cool down isn't that much worse... 2 seconds isn't a big deal.

Photons can be used well if you plan around there speed... meaning they are good to fire almost always... and there slow travel time gives you time to make sure a facing is down... they also seem to go missed by some people due to the GFX which seem easier to miss.

Honestly mostly you want quantums... photons can be fun.

Copy your toon to tribble... respec there and test your photon. Then you can still sell it if you don't like it.
Honestly What do you need the ec for anyway... hold on to it in case you ever do want to use it on this or another toon... you can transfer it as long as you don't equip it.

If you want your Torpedos to do high burst damage there's no way around Quantums, especially if you're using High Yield. If you're just out for max damage over time, go with the Photons.

Drop those quantum dmg x2s and get either of the ones from the emblem store - both are better. Acc is more versatile, but CrtDx2 is a beauty if your target isnt moving.

If you only fit one launcher, then the Quantum... assuming you don't have a Photon from Zeus or something.

....getting 50 mil for photon sorry buddy

and I said i 'think' i can get around 50mil lol, looking at the lack of [crth]x3 torps, of the types anyone really uses that is, I bet I get close to 50mil, but ec is so easy on this game I am thinking I agree with Husanak. At first I wasn't really keen to the slower travel speed of the photon torps *been playing around with some just to see if i like the different speed/fire rate, etc*, and I did notice it was kinda nice how the torps only arrived after I had tossed out some good cannon damage and the targets shields were low. I'll have to think about it more. Ty for all the input.

If I had that weapon I would definitely try working it into my build. First, what are you going to do with the 50 million EC's anyways right? Secondly, a 6% increase chance to hit is pretty nice and I think you could actually make photons work. Yes, I prefer quantums but again a Critx3 torp is worth experimenting with if you ask me.

The biggest thing with torps is really timing. It's about getting a feel for when you need to launch your torps so that they arrive, ideally, right when the targets shield facing is down. Now since photons travel at a slightly slower speed you will have to work on the timing of launching them and probably work out an ideal attack sequence as well. I definitely have some ideas on how to do that but if you play fed I'm not going to share them.

The burst is going to be lower with photons but then again you are going to crit more often. It is a very interesting "problem" you have and one I wish i had lol.

Quantum torpedoes are visually more satisfying to fire.

I've, however, found through experience that photon torpedoes were superior to my playstyle.

Quantums all the way to the bank, there is no contest.

The higher burst damage more than makes up for the slower firing cycle IMO. The single most important thing besides the great burst damage, is the much faster travel speed.

In PvE it won't matter quite so much, but in PvP you want those torps to smack into the hull before those shields come back up, and with the game at the moment, that isn't likely to be a very large window. Quantums give you the greatest freedom IMO to take advantage of situations as they arise.

By the time your photon torp hits the target, they may have had more than enough time to turn a whole other facing shield to you, even at a relatively close range, which is really frustrating.
