Borg shields on Cruisers - underrated?

I was just doing some theorycrafting* and thought of this:

On a Cruiser, it's fairly easy to get up to 125 shield power while maintaining 125 weapons with EPtS 2. With the Borg Shield's natural regen of 273, at 125 shield power that should be 1092/6 seconds/facing. Also, at 125 shield power with EPtS 2, you'll have a natural resistance of ~59% while having a decent capacity with the Field Generator. Add in a +13% shield regen console, and you're at 1233.96. Throw on constant shield redistribution (which we should all be doing) and/or a TacTeam and you're golden.

Having that much regen with that high of a resist seems to be quite useful (in addition to possibly giving you the 4-piece tractor beam). Why don't more people do this? The only downside I can see is being more susceptible to CPB, but that's about it.

*The reason I have to theorycraft so much is because I think I come up with these awesome builds, only to come across one of you guys while pugging and having you scream a giant 'NO!' in my face as I'm constantly going back to respawn :p

I was about to test that theory actually. I know every time I ever tried it in my scort (even with eating a shield bat) my shields just got blown down, and I'd be dead in short order without -massive- heal investments.

I've been bit so many times by regen shields heh.

I might try it on my cruiser, but with resilient regen 3s instead. (strong regen, still bad capacity but that 5 percent bleed through sounds sexy)

Mav on the fed side the FE takes the most advantage of the Borg Regen because of the exotic power settings you can get with the 3 Engie consoles.

I also noticed the borg shield procs alot more at full power.

My escort has the full borg set and manages quite well. I would guess it would be even better on a cruiser.

2x EPtS + 2 Shield power consoles (+1 Field Generator) = ~100? For an Escort, that's pretty baller.

You don't need 2 shield power consoles to make this work on an escort. I run 125 weapon power with EPtS constant normally, but when I get focused I switch to shield power. With the EPtS running, I get 125 shields and a decent weapons power to deal moderate damage until I get the heals I need and/or the opposing team switches target. With my fleet escort, I have a field generator, an EPS and a shield regen boost console.

The full borg set gives a +5 all the way across. In my Raptor after bonuses I am ate 125/90 WP, 69/40 SP, 65/40 EP and like 50/30 AP. The only booster I run is the +7 weapon power console and the the +35% shield console and EPS

I run them Praxis, it's just a matter of keeping your shields reinforced and maneuvering to make things tricky for Escorts. They're quite powerful if used right, always have shields up somewhere to repel LOLSPREAD.

Funny...I'm using that combination for what ? year and half ? admited i switched from regx3reg to borg shields...but principle remains the same..... :o

You can reach close to 125 shield power on escort as well with some tweaking, you just can't cycle EPtS as much as on cruiser.

I use em on my Excelsior. They are great because im DPS and I dont have alot of heals. So every extra bit of shield power helps. Infact some of the mark xi regenerative purples are just as good with the damage resist mods. Prob better in some cases. i have a few that work pretty well. A cheap and effective one i have used has been the Shield Array MK XI Regx3
