Flying backwards secret?

So what's the secret to flying backwards very, very quickly?
It's not max engine power or emergency power to engines or engine batteries or Aux2ID, I tried those.
Its not Evasive/Deuterium, because I look for those buffs specifically, and they're not there.
It's not Full Impulse, because we're in combat.
It's not just escorts, I've seen sci ships do this also.
And they're not being hit by TBR.

It's really awesome to fly backwards at such high speeds to keep targets in your forward arc.

Have you tried throwing all your power in to engine systems? Did an opponent deploy a 'Repulse' weapon like Tractor Beams? Have you tried using an Impulse drive that gives you multiple flat speed bonuses?

No Impulse engine bonus gives that kind of in-combat backwards acceleration.

Well, if it's none of those...

Have you considered you may have been dreaming?

There's that console from that new tactical ship with a console that increases speed dramatically (the escort that was released with the revamped Intrepid, I forgot their names).. perhaps it works in reverse?

Oh.

I just checked the C-store fed side. Looks like what I've been seeing was the Gladius's console. (And I guess those sci ships doing that were under evasive/Detrium, and I missed the icon). Does the Gladius's console, when used, have a buff icon?

Well, that defiantly explains what I've been seeing recently in certain dogfights vs escorts in my Raptor.

I'd love to know what the KDF counterpart is.

(I'm actually going to NOT assume there isn't one. For now.)

Buffs not showing has been reported before, so it can definitely be a factor in it.

Flying backwards really really fast requires a time machine, doesn't it?

Perhaps a video of what you are talking about? "flying backwards very, very quickly" is very subjective. To me, I am able to fly backwards "very, very quickly" but I have no idea if my methods meet your criteria for the same.

Well, maybe all you need is a Miracle Worker!
