Warp 9.99

Hello,

shouldn't be the M.A.C.O. Impulse Engine faster then a normal Engine with Warp 9.97.
At the moment it has the same speed in Secto Space. :(

They should make it go Warp 13. That's the speed they did in TNG episode All Good Things.
But we really need another engine that goes fast in sector space besides the Borg engine.

If people could go warp 14 after F2P then nobody would mind traveling through sector space and less people would be tempted to use the energy credit sink that is the 'warp to' feature.

its silly when you think about is, why have this engine only increase you warp speed to warp 9.99 when you ship once it hit VA normally goes at warp 9.97. This isn't a signicant booast. It should be a little faster.

The warp 10 max concept was introduced in the TNG series, in STO its more of an range of speeds. In addition the speeds in the game naturally in accurate, I sat one light-year from a star on the map and traveled to it at warp one (speed of light), it only took me 30min to get to the star, not a year in real lifer.

You can only transwarp to a location while doing a mission for the first time. Since this is a STF reward, it is unlikely to affect it too much. Also, I found that I was paying the instant transwarp fee rather than using the Excelsior transwarp anyway. I agree with Chaos_Rift: warp 13 is less cool than the Borg engine, yet still better than the pitiful .02 increase over VA speed.

Warp 9.99 would make sense if Cryptic didn't use a linear speed system (for example, warp 8 is twice the speed of warp 4) when Star Trek used a geometric progression that went up asymptotically to Warp 10. I'll accept that the warp scale was changed between Nemesis and 2409, but linear just doesn't do it for me.

i'm surpirsed that know ha mentione this to the devs and still don't understand why they make it only warp 9.99, only 0.2 increase is still nothing. maybe if the make equal to the borg but make it that it can only be used for a short time or make at at leats go warp 12?

Now this depends and which TV Series speed scale that you use... the TOS, with the Kelvin modifications, the original Enterprise could do Warp 14. But in Star Trek Voyager, Warp 10 meant that you would be everywhere simultaneously...

It is generally believed that the warp scale was adjusted because as ships got faster, it was unwieldy to refer to speeds as warp 9.xx. The Enterprise-D and Pasteur traveled at warp 13 in the incident concerning the temporal anomaly in the Devron system. (TNG: "All Good Things...")

That and .02 in a linear scale in this game is nothing. Warp 13 for the MACO engine! It is a canon number and it wouldn't even be the fastest engine.

Edit: Video proof of the Pasteur
