Switching Characters
 

Now that we have Duty Officers to keep busy; meaning that we have to login and out a few times frequently. Any chance we can, at some point, be able to do that without having to put in our password every time? I know it's not a huge inconvenience, but it does get annoying.

I could say "WoW does it that way", but I won't. ;)

You could have said that City of Heroes does it that way too, but you didn't.

I for one am for this. But for slightly different reasons. Every time I go to log out a character, it asks me if I just want to "log out that character", then logs out my entire account and I have to log in again.

I know, even mentioning that means that Cryptic will change the text first, and not the log out thing.

One thing that really bothers me and I find just as frustrating as hitting the loading screen after loading screen, is the process of switching characters. Any time we want to switch between toons we have to back all the way out of the game, then re-log in, password etc.. Once or twice is fine, and if you are spending alot of time on one toon then it is really not that big of a deal.

However, when you are looking through the inventories of multiple toons, running some quick dailies such as the winter race, etc.. it starts to become a bigger issue. So, Why do we have to log out and re log back in to switch toons on our account? Are there any ways Cryptic can alleviate this issue?

It's a security feature, and it shall not be removed.

No, it isn't. This should be optional, I know how to secure my computer. ^^

It was definitely stated that this would not be changed.

Nothing is a Security Feature, if somebody else gets your password. ;)

This was mentioned somewhere, but it's a security thing that Cryptic is not likely to change anytime soon.

It really, really is. It may not be a security feature you like or need, but it is a security feature and one Cryptic has been emphatic about not removing.

The debate even predates that. It was brought up before STO in relation to Champions Online.

Unfortunately, the masses of the internet have as much security sense as a bag of rocks. If they had any, we wouldn't still get junk e-mails trying to steal passwords.
