So Gorn time

I've got a Gorn tactical at the moment, and was thinking about getting him a Gorn ship in the not to distant future. But which?
I've not seen much on the Gorn ships, and I went back three pages and couldn't find anything. So any reviews, tips or tricks from them?

Thanks.

All of them are science ships.

Which is really sad!
I have a Tac Gorn, too and would love to have a nice bulky looking Gorn Battlecruiser or Escort for him. Nausicaan Destroyers are fine but Orion Cruisers...really? Yes I know, they are Criminals and I think Orion Carriers are fine but leave the Warships to the scary looking Species like the Gorn. ;)

This pretty much mirrors a discussion currently going on regardng the Orion cruisers which many of us feel should have come after some kind of Orion escort.
My guess is Cryptic threw the dice and decided which of the allied races got which of the types of ships we have in this game for now and ended up with this.
And of course since the others are missing not everyone will be happy with it.
Let's just hope this game is around long enough for them fill up the ranks for each allied race.

My hopes are the Gorn don't get a conventional cruiser next.
I'd prefer an engineering-based Gorn battlecarrier.
Use the Varanus as a visual basis and make the ship a bit longer and wider.
Then take the Kar'fi as a statwise template.
Flip the Engy and Tac BO and console slots and voilą.
Strange since I'm not really a fan of carriers...

I know. I've toyed with the Concept of "Advanced Destroyer" for some time. Sort of like Current type 45's or the HMS Ariadne from Alistair MacLean's Santorini. On the fed side I was thinking my tactical captain, in a Intrepid class, with Cannon's and turrets and a bucket of offensive powers. I've just never got around to it.

Well this seems like a good opportunity. The Dragus power seems more in line with this concept, although the Phalanx does turn slightly quicker.

Although it could be fun to put all three Gorn consoles into one ship. :D

HMM I remember there used to be some kind of "Tac in Interpid" guides out there before the forums got rearranged to their current reincarnation.
Perhaps they have some kind of useable builds in them...if you can find them.

Seems like they did, yes.
I mean it makes absloutely no sense to me why they would give the Orions heavy combat Ships and the Gorn...
Science Ships? Really?? Gorn are smart but Science? No, I could live with Combatengineers but the thought of a Gorn in a Lab Coat is a little...irritating to me. ;)

Science does not really mean labnerd.:) Nor does it mean "research".
Historically speaking, the Gorn were the first to turn a tricorder into a bomb by feeding it its own scanner impulses back. That's not exactly an engineer's job. That's what a good electronics (=science) specialist does.

Well, if it were me I'd get the Varanus, and possibly add the consoles to my varanus from the other 2 gorn vessels. That being said, the Gorn ship is a very nice science ship, no complaints from me. I play 2 Gorn characters, one flies the raptor and the other flies the Varanus. Eventually, I'd like to see some other ships from their fleet make their way into the ranks of the KDF. Orion Escorts, Nausicaan Battle Cruisers (They have a really cool one you can fight against, npc-wise), and Gorn Cruisers would be nice to see. Additionally, I think it would be pretty neat to see some kind of imaginative Lethean design pop up. I realize the Letheans are supposed to be a long-subjugated race by the Klingons, but they also are quite powerful, and it would be neat to see what they'd come up with. I suspect some kind of cloaking escort that's heavy on the science.

To the original poster, I'd say give the ship a try. Tacticals in Science ships can do fine. Ultimately you won't have things like Subnucleonic beam or dampening field, but you will be able to crank up your damage output and flip your forward facing around faster if you use abilities that require it.

"Letheans are supposed to be a long-subjugated race by the Klingons"

where's that from?
