Any decent defiant setups?

Hey all.

Just got a defiant, wondering what to kit it with and what bo powers to set it up with.

Currently i have on is 2 tet dc and 1 elctro plasma heavy dc and a photon all level VI. Then i have on rear a cony aft phaser the levelless ones from cstore cony and a hargh torp level VI.

Def - [Positron Deflector Array Mk VI [Em]]
Impulse - [Efficient Impulse Engines Mk VI]
Shields - [Paratrinic Shield Array Mk VI]

Eng - Victorium V uncommon
Sci - Sens Probes VI
Tact: 3 prefire chambers mark VI uncommon ones,

Devices - RM Cap and the subspace thing

BO:

Tact - Spread 1, cannon scatter, volley and volley 3
Tact - Tact Team
Eng - Eng team and Reverse Shield Pol
Sci - Sci Team, Jam TS

Lookin for a nice dps boat if poss. Dont have access or credits to get the very best stuff but uncommon for now will be probably obtainable for it all of course if i can save and not replace things id like that option as im captain 30 atm, and about to do Hunting the hunters if u wana know where i am up to mission wise, i dont pvp at all cept with a mate, and he is VA and has all the top gear so no point matching him in this.

I'm no expert, but having a tight turning escort you should almost always be facing your target and rear firing weapons won't be of use unless they have a 360 arc(ie: turrets). While their damage isn't substantial; if your DHC/HC's aren't on target because your facing the wrong direction your losing a lot more DPS IMO. Which is why you see so many DHC/HC/DBB and turret builds with never having aft weapons that aren't turrets.

Ended up with this setup for now. Not sure if i have set it up great or not but seems to be pretty punchy.

Some pics of skills i use and equip.

Would be nice if i can get it to turn better tho but them turning consoles don't seem to work or at least give a noticeable change (admittedly tho i only tested that with akira, the turn rate console i once got).

Ta LoyalTrekie for the advice.

T4 Defiant right? Wanted to get that in before people start giving you T5 setups.

You really want to be cycling 2 tact teams for maximum uptime. That won't give you room for eng team or sci team as they share cooldowns so you'll want transfer shield strength on the sci boff and emergency power to shields or weaps on the eng one.

Did you see the changes i did in my past post? I.e seen the pics?

Yes to the t4 defiant as im captain level.

BOff Skills:
Tactical Team's shield re-direct will keep you alive better than anything in the game. If you're just PvEing, 1 will probably do, although obviously 2 would be better.
My advice is to drop Attack Pattern Beta (you have Gamma and Alpha, both of which, IMO, are better), retrain that officer in a Torp HY II or Torp Spread II, and replace your Torp Spread 1 with another tactical team.
I've never been a big fan of Jam Sensors, I'd take Transfer Shield Strength or Hazard Emitters instead of it.

Loadout:
3xDHCs, 1 Torp and 2 turrets is the optimal loadout for DPS, so you've got the right idea. Ideally, you should really match your turret energy type to the DHCs, and then replace the prefire consoles with the energy-specific consoles (phaser relay, tetryon pulse generator etc.), which give a greater bonus, if you can afford it - they tend to be more expensive on the exchange than Prefire consoles.

I prefer Quantum Torpedoes to Photons because I use them with High Yield where the greater power more than makes up for the longer downtime, but that's a preference issue.

If possible get a Combat Impulse Engine with a [turn] modifier. Will increase your manouverability and you can drop your engine power below 50 (which then can be put into weapons) with less of a speed penalty.

Its still good to carry one beam in the rear. Reason, it makes traking you target easier, and with a critical beam overload, can cause the most damage. (I've ovn shooted a sphere with a beam overload)

Front 3 DHC, 1 Torp (Quantum)
Rear 2 Turrets, one Beam array.

Run Cannon spread, Rapid fire, Torp Spred, HY, and Beam overload. (Make use of that ensign tact slot)

This is a VA Defiant build,
For Captain I would run one turret and one beam.

Use 100/50/25/25 as power levels, you want to do damage, right?

Drop Jam sensors and Sci Team for Hazard Emitter 2 and Transfer Shield Strength 1 or vice versa. I'd use 2 Emergency Power to Shields.

Thanks i have adjusted some of the things like bo powers as recommended. ;) Using a QT as well.

I will try the power setting as well.

At Captain level, the Breen set is probably your best choice for engine, deflector and shield. The Polaron resists really help with Jem'Hadar, and the Supercooled Combat Impulse Engine improves your engine power setting and turn rate. The two-piece bonus also helps keep weapon power up, which you need in a Defiant.

Rather than DPS, you should be going for massive spike damage. a popular build right now is four DHCs up front and three turrets aft, but I'd rather run 3 DHCs and a DBB, with three aft turrets. You can trade in your High-Yield torpedo for a Beam Overload, the spike on those is much better and they can really strip a shield facing like nothing else.

Attack Patterns Alpha and Omega are great buffs, and Cannon Rapid fire also affects turrets, so that's good there.

Once you make it to RA, the most popular equipment is the Borg Console, engines and Deflector with the MACO shields. And you'll probably want to switch weapon types to Antiproton or Phaser.
