We will be bringing down the shard for a restart on Saturday, January 28th from 7:00AM to 8:30AM PST (1500 to 1630 UTC). We will provide an update once the maintenance has been completed.

It's a maintenance restart, not a patch. If it was a patch, they'd have said they were applying a patch.

honestly after the inability for the server to launch ship action maps on the Borg and mirror universe events over and over again not to mention the dylithium exchange bug and server failing to respond time and time again after the "no maintenance downtime" experiment on thursday that caused oh so many problems. :p

take it down once a week, take a few hours, fix the damn thing properly, rinse and repeat weekly

and i agree the Maco Shield FX is HORRIBAD... a white flash that looks fugly and freezes the Framerate for a few frames *ugh* (and no idea what it actually does ;P )
