What's a good LTCmdr tac power for my oddessy?
 

Title says it all. Been looking at the beam target subsystem skills but I'm not spec'd in any sci skills. Any good suggestions?

Your Captain type also has an effect on this.

But FAW 3 or Omega 1 are solid choices.

Regardless, I highly recommend running TacTeam 1, and either FAW 2 or 3, if not both. Sticking a Beta with FAW isnt' a bad idea either.

I run pve almost all the time. I blow up too often in pvp to make it not fun. I was thinking beam target shields to know their shields offline and follow up with a high yield torp maybe. or some beam overload 3. just something to blow up the pve in a pass or two. lol

I'm not sure how effectively BTSS is in PvE, but if it reliably works, then BTS 3 + HY 2/BTS 2 + HY 3 could work well.

Or perhaps Omega 1 + BTS 2 + HY 1.

i just tried BTSS 2, and it had little to no effect on any pve enemies. i tried BTSE 3 and was proc'ing all the time. i like the subsystem power so i can wipe out thier defenses but would love for a BTSS 3 with a high yield 1 or two quantum in there. Ouch.

torpedo spread 3 FTW

PvE enemies rarely re-balance their shields, so it is more effective to knock them down by brute force. And since you often have multiple opponents, FAW or Torp Spread are the best bets.

Without going into full details of my build. A good combo I find for my cruiser is tac team, atk pattern beta 1, and Beam FAW 3. I'm an engineer in the Assault cruiser refit (though not same ship the aforementioned combination is still viable in the Oddysey. I also due to the extra ensign tac slot run a torpedo spread and with the use of the Con Officer dof that reduces tac team cooldown and adds a boost to atk patterns when tac team is used I'm able to really put out some hurt using tac team APB and Beam FAW3 combo then Launching a spread of quantums into my targets/target. Though escorts can do higher burst damage than me over the course of an STF or any other pve mission and in a high number of the pvp matches I've done I average higher dps than 70% of escorts. In pve (Elite infected since it's the easiest to parse) I average 6.5k dps while most escorts average 5k or less with the occasional exception that can do 6 to 7k dps.
