Some PVP info requested from veterans.

Hi there. Im rolling in a Sci ship, mainly to do with shield tanking, Phaser arrays and CCs.

Up until 40 I was doing rather well in PVP arenas. Now I've hit this bracket though things are getting desperate.

Escorts always hit hard but now its getting too much, without fail most escorts can focus me and if they break shield for even a second, good ones can insta gib me. Before this wasent an issue, they did lots of damage yes but I could mitigate it. The damage is now so high that its not possible.

Now tell me. Is this exactly the same at Vice Admiral? Does PVP turn into an insta gib fest? Or can I actually play a more defensive hybrid build and actually be of any use without being insta gibbed without much to do about it by a properly flown/geared escort?

I've been thoroughly enjoying my PVP experience up until now, saw lots of skill potential, lots of varied players both good and bad.
Right now though an escort just sits at around 8km- not moving, just pointing and unloading himself and killing things Haha.

Would much appreciate any input in the matter thanks. :)

Make sure your running your tanking abilities at their full respective power levels. U want to tank means you aint gonna be doing no damage unless you keep some weapons batteries handy. Fly your test builds into Kerrat with the intent on doing no damage and just see how long you can last. Then work on your offensive abilities after you think you got defense squared away

I appreciate the advice but could you answer the one question-
Hope is not lost? I can improve and fight back against such large DPS?
I don't care if I have to learn and adapt further I just don't like it if such a dumb playstyle I can't do much to counter. This is my problem :)

Tell me you Sci players do well and not just in a support capacity.

Sci is honestly the game winner at VA pvp. DPS becomes a joke, compared to the large resistance numbers out there. DPS seems potent because there is a very large lack of competent fed players in the ques right now (kdf at least have so much pay to win garbage they can get by with much less skill) that are willing to heal and give those large resistances.

2 to 3 sci ships is the Norm in a strong team, due to being able to completely rip the shields of their targets, forcibly remove buffs, and so many other nasty tricks that DPS alone just can't do.

Also, to really really get a good scort, especially at the high end level the guy can't be very dumb. Escorts are great till Cruisers get their act together and actually start throwing heals. And until sci start rolling them over with CPB, PSW, Grav Well, sub nuc and then burst damage from torps, or bo2s. You'll be the one "one shotting" people once you get into the groove with sci. Especialy if there is another sci present.

1 sci is kind of useful in a team... 2 is incredibly effective. 3 is Facerolling Time. 4 is auto win. 5 is, the other team might as well log, if the sci guys know what they are even half doing.

That is what I like to hear :)
Thank you for your comment, I'd really hate it if it was just escorts having an easy ''push their dps buttons'' and win dance.

I regard myself as a good mmo PVPer (whether that actually merits anything here shall remain to be seen) and for sure I shall look forward to high end game play if I can make such a difference to a team simply by being there.

Have you done much PvP besides pick-up group queues and Kerrat?

Yeah, I fly with TSI and Pandas fairly regularly.

He with the best team work and with the best sci wins pretty much every time.
You aren't going to bring someone's shields down without sci, against a resistance heavy team. (as in the team is actually throwing resistances to Other people not just themselves) DPS's out put gets reduced by 75 percent pretty regularly (the dmg reduction cap for shields). Tet Gliders do help alleviate the problem, but sci still can rip them down much faster.

If you don't believe it, I'm sure I can arrange an evening of 5 sci/sci's on a Panda premade. Might be fun :)

Mav, you can join us if you'd like to help stick the point home.
