The Ambassador Class: Brainstorming
 
It is my opinion that the Ambassador Class ship should be its own ship and not a skin for the Galaxy Class ships due to the fact that the Ambassador Class ship is indeed smaller.

I believe the developer team is having a difficult time differentiating it from the Galaxy Class. Therefore, I think we need to do some brainstorm for this ship a little bit.

FACT: The Ambassador Class ship was a peacetime ship. Therefore, I think a neat perk idea for this ship would be for it to come with a very rare and two rare diplomat duty officers.

FACT: The Ambassador Class ship came before the Galaxy class. Therefore, I think that the Ambassador Class ship should be the same Tier if not the Tier below the Galaxy Class ship.

Some Thoughts:
Due to the Galaxy Class ship being classified as a Cruiser, I think that the Ambassador Class ship should be classified as a Science Cruiser. This would in affect make the ship lean toward the science ship type but with a hint of still being a cruiser. This would make it a little different from the Galaxy Class Cruiser.

In the TNG show, the Enterprise -C took quite a beating. I think it would be neat therefore to show it is a tough ship by giving it a +10 passive bonus to its shield power setting.

I think it should be a straight Science Vessel of the same Tier as the Galaxy (T4) - though they can make a Refit as well at T5. Making it a Science Vessel give it a little less firepower then the Galaxy; plus it gets more turn rate and less hull, which also fits the base idea, IMO. And it's not unreasonable that Cruiser-like ships in the game get made into Science Vessels. We already have the Nebula and the Devs are talking about the upcoming Vesta also being Science.

It should have the same 4 4 weapons as the galaxy. It should be an excelsior but with a LTCM sci.

The game already has the Odyssey and Starcruiser as Science-Cruisers. We really don't need another, IMO.

Well, there are a few more escorts coming as well. Like the Andorian ship. So, why not more Sci-cruisers! Iím a big fan of different variants of the same type.

Yes, it needs some exotic deflector abilities to accidentally create a time rift when hit by torpedos!
So sci heavy cruiser sounds about right.
Plus we don't have a hybrid cruiser at T4 yet. just the Galaxy class, which is pure cruiser.

The reason there are more T5 Escorts coming is because the game has less of them then any other Class type. :)

How about this? Make it a science class (power bonuses, targeting abilities, etc, but pretend its an engineering ship? the Commander power is engineering, but you have a LT Comm, and ensign science power. One LT universal gives a little added survivability too. Something like this

Note if I understand it correctly, the higher impulse modifier will let it accelerate and turn better.
