5 Rules for Ker'rat (Federation and KDF Editions!)

Federation Players:

1. Ker'rat is a player vs player zone. When a KDF player sees you, he has little way of knowing whether you will attack him if he flies near you, or if you are just there to fight Borg. Remember this, and don't complain if the KDF captain decides not to take the chance.

2. Every KDF captain who attacks you at the spawn is not neccessarily camping. Sometimes they wander over there in our search for targets. Not that it matters. If you have ever fired on a lone bird-of-pray in a cluster of federation ships during map reset, you have lost your right to complain about spawn camps.

3. Don't talk trash or respond to trash talk. It just makes you look like a punk.

4. Don't ask for 1v1's in zone chat, or complain when you get jumped by a BoP wolfpack. You would have (and do!) done the same thing. If you really have a bone to pick and want to set up a duel, have some class and send a tell.

4a. In the same vein, don't use profanity or call people names. It just makes you look like a punk.

4b. Don't cry when somebody doesn't honor a 1v1. It doesn't gain you anything, and remember you are in a warzone, after all.

5. Don't complain about KDF pilots using their cloak to escape death. It is an integral part of their ships' capabilities, and if you had it, you would use it too, for that reason.

KDF Players

1. Feel free to attack anything you see. But if a federation captain requests politely that you leave them alone (no smack talk, no name calling), have some class and move to a different target. There are plenty of federation players who will act like turds and be more satisfying to kill. No need to ruin someone else's fun.

2. Don't camp the spawn. Yes, federation players do it too, but doing it just makes you look like a punk, and there are plenty of other ships flying around that you can blow up.

2a. Unless the federation captain is sitting afk at the spawn. Screw that guy. Just be careful, it might be a trap.

3. Don't talk trash or respond to trash talk. It just makes you look like a punk.

4. Never honor 1v1 challenges issued in zone chat. Just ignore it. If contacted directly through a tell, give the challenge some consideration.

4a. Don't use profanity or call people names. It just makes you look like a punk.

4b. If someone is a jerk and demands a 1v1, do your best to break it. Don't complain when federation captains do the same.

5. Use your cloak. Don't let federation whiners guilt you into not utilizing your craft to it's fullest.

Don't go to Ker'rat expecting just to fight Borg. As you stated, it's a warzone - a PvP zone.

There are rarely enough KDF to camp the spawn. Sometimes, there might be enough KDF to clear their own spawn after a restart if the majority of the Feds either fly away or are AFK. The Fed spawn is in the upper left corner and the KDF spawn is in the lower right - so yes, after a restart - everybody's at the KDF spawn. If you stay there as a Fed, you're camping...

It's part of what makes Ker'rat so entertaining and a much better zone than somewhere like ESD or Qo'nos.

Cracked. There are some people that respect it. There are even people that will change sides, grabbing another toon, to hunt down those that violate the fights that take place there.

If you do not want to see profanity, do not turn the filter off.

Go in expecting to die, and if you die - it's not like it matters. Also of note, you can change instances or leave the zone while dead...you don't have to respawn and then complain that they're not letting you go.

Besides, uncloaked Feds tend to run away faster than a KDF will cloak and run...

No. You already stated in #1 for Feds that it is a PvP zone. If the Fed does not want to participate in PvP, they should not go in a PvP area. It's that simple.

2. Don't camp the spawn. Yes, federation players do it too, but doing it just makes you look like a punk, and there are plenty of other ships flying around that you can blow up.
It's extremely rare for there to be enough KDF to camp the Fed spawn. If they are camping, it's easy enough to move to another instance where they are not...because the odds are if they have enough to camp the spawn, then most of the other instances are going to be all but empty of KDF.

2a. Unless the federation captain is sitting afk at the spawn. Screw that guy. Just be careful, it might be a trap.
It's far easier to AFK while dead.

3. Don't talk trash or respond to trash talk. It just makes you look like a punk.
Some of the conversations that take place in Ker'rat are part of the entertainment while waiting for somebody to farm your Dilithium.

4. Never honor 1v1 challenges issued in zone chat. Just ignore it. If contacted directly through a tell, give the challenge some consideration.
See under the "Fed rules"...

4a. Don't use profanity or call people names. It just makes you look like a punk.
Again, if you do not want to see profanity - do not turn the filter off.

4b. If someone is a jerk and demands a 1v1, do your best to break it. Don't complain when federation captains do the same.
Who cares what they demand?

5. Use your cloak. Don't let federation whiners guilt you into not utilizing your craft to it's fullest.
If anything, use it more... it can make the Ker'rat chat that much more entertaining. :D

Profanity issue isn't seeing the words themselves. It's that it makes you look like an xbox kiddie.

Teenagers curse. Young adults curse. Adults curse. Middle aged people curse. Seniors curse.

Would you tell a couple of seniors cursing about their Medicare supplemental subscription plan that they sound like a couple of X-Box kiddies?

Let's not split hairs here. You understand the type of cursing it refers to. A simple "**** you got me", is much different from "***** I ****ed your mom, you are a ***** *****, 9/11 was an inside job, **** space shuttle challenger *****"

Which can be done without the profanity. Most of the nonsense that takes place in ESD puts to shame any of the /picard one might find themselves doing in Ker'rat.

Even some of what you said there did not involve profanity. It's mainly a case of folks trolling in Ker'rat, etc. They do it with or without profanity - usually they do it without. All the political, religious, racist, etc, etc, etc trolling can be annoying... often it is not enough just to /ignore the troll, because of all the...ahem...folks that feed that troll.

It can get quiet there pretty fast at times. I tend to pseudo-ignore those folks - do not even have to /ignore them, it's simply a case that I visually tune them out.

The ego folks...well, those people tend to go on the /ignore list. There are a few that consider themselves above everybody else, and well - they just rub me the wrong way, lol.

So despite the fact that the region is occupied by Borg, and both UFP and KDF forces have orders to stop the Borg, noone should enter unless they are really there to shoot the Feds or Klingons, simply because the zone allows PvP?

Metagame much?

If you are talking you aren't killing.

Ker'rat's a PVP free for all. Anything goes, and it can go several ways. I usually play Fed. Sometimes, a KDF player will warp in and attack me or someone else, sometimes they'll attack the Borg and we'll all work together to accomplish the goals of that map, and sometimes we'll all just waste time taking pot shots at one another and cracking jokes. That's what makes it fun. It's not real blood vengeance, it's a game. Sometimes you win, sometimes you 'splode. The PvP is what makes this game worth playing, in my opinion.
