Beam Overload
 
Im a little confused as to why more ppl arent up in arms about how inaccurate Beam overload is. Why in the world is it missing so much? With FAW broken, our only option for beam dps is what appears to be a just as broken Beam overload ability. Why the hell would anyone run broken Beam Overmiss instead of OP FAW Nevermiss? If the numbers zorena posted show 97% accuracy with his normal beam shots, why the hell is overload missing at least 1/3 of the time with acc rated weapons?

Has anyone tested the accuracy rating of it?

I know its a long shot, but any devs reading this that can maybe shed some light?

many have noted this. they also note the miss rate drops with lowers levels of the ability. very odd. makes no sense to me.

we learned to pick our battles. if we bring up yet another broken skill i dont think anything all would be fixed. i mean they do have a pvp strike team hard at work the last year to make pvp more enjoyable.... right?

alas, i too have abandoned my beloved beam overload 2 on accx3 dbb. it was a forever staple of my escort builds. no longer.

Yeah for a few months there my dual bo3 with psw and tractor build on my tact was deadly. Now with acc times 2 and a stunned and tractored target it still misses. WTF?

It's really bizzarre that BO3 misses almost every shot.

Bo2 seems to miss, but has a bigger payoff than 1 potentially (infact it can almost crit as hard as BO3)
Bo1 seems to be the ever hitter with the highest crit rate, but lowest potential damage. I can hit almost 15/15 with BO1.

Bo2 it seems to be about 7/15 to 10/15 shots. Given a few variables *such as distance to target, targets speed, and my speed*

These rough figures are with an AccX2 CrtH DBB by the way.

Its an overload, for a Christ sake. Uncontrollable, huge amount of energy is coming out of your banks. It should miss at least 50%, and there should be some skill thats affecting the outcome. Energy weapons specialization, someone?

TBH I'm kinda ok with it. I use it on my escort, and putting all your eggs into one basket for enormous damage potential naturally has the ability to completely fizzle.

If I use it on a fast moving escort, I use it expecting to have a high chance to miss. Therefore I wait till the target is slow or stopped to raises my chances.

I don't think it misses more, cause the skill doesn't give an accuracy bonus or penalty. Cannons and beams miss quite a bit, but you just don't notice that all the time cause you're spamming spacebar or autofiring. It's just that you see a huge beam of energy flying by your target that sticks out in your mind.

The change seemed to happen when they added the miss animation. I don't have good solid number from prior to this but I did experience BO3 looking like it ran into a brick wall of a shield or hull doing 0 damage on my combat log prior to the animation change.

I used to chalk these extreme 1 out of 4 or 5 shots up to a lag/glitch problem cause I never saw a miss fly-over.

I now think that my glitch/lag problem was in reality a miss.

But as fallout indicated these instances seemed to have increased from 1 out of 4 or 5 to 3 out of 4 or 5.
