FIELD GENERATORS NOW STACKING (Bad Move Cryptic)

While these consoles would help some with their specialized functionality in their particular situations they certainly did not improve things monumentally. Those consoles are in storage now. If they want to change things so players have far greater shield capacity they could merely increase the power of a single shield generator . This change is bad for STO overall in my opinion since it destroys diversity and promotes further cookie cutter layout schemes. Quote:

Field Testing with three Field Generators in PvP "Capture and Hold" I am experiencing far more durability in ship survivability not just with myself, but with everyone on both sides.
That in and of itself is not a bad thing. Arguably it makes Fleet Combat a lot more fun as it involves a great deal more tactical play to wear down and take down your foe. If your going to keep it like this tripple the power of the consoles and limit them to just one. As it is it is destroying any reason to use any other science console except possibly certain CP Store ones for specific type builds. |
Ya I agree that no consoles should stack. It creates such a bland build. We stack resistance, we stack tactical damage and now we stack shields.
Why have any other normal consoles besides Neutronium Armor, EPS, Field Generator, and Energy/Projectile damage? (There are a few special C-Store consoles that are good too) There is no reason to use any of the other science consoles, or any of the other engineer consoles. |
In my opinion, there are two ways to handle this:
1) All consoles stack 2) No console stacks. I don't like that one console differs so much from the rest. But if the Field Generators are to stack, +35 % is probably too much. And it's stupid there exists only one endgame variant of them and no lower level ones. I think a value of about +20 % may be fine. I am getting more and more partial to the idea that identical consoles should not stack at all, but it would require a major rebalance of all existing consoles. So I don't see that happening, but here are my thoughts on that anyway:

The more I think about it, the more I want no consoles to stack. It will create a lot more variety in builds. Again, currently there are tons of pointless consoles. If we got rid of stacking, those consoles would have a use again.

Most things that are changed in the game now its seems are actual bugs... weird. Like how they reverse the trend from before F2P :D Every patch is now a lottery..
Wonder what console/wep/shield/set gets an unexpected bonus next patch? Guess it won't be long before engines are disabled and it takes years to travel to next sector... realism ;) |
