Noob question alert!

Does FAW target cloaked vessels then?

Archived Post 03-21-2012 05:54 AM

From what I can tell nobody has been able to provide reproduction steps for FAW hitting cloaked ships under controlled circumstances.

Maybe it does, maybe it doesn't.

But the truth is: If Klingons hadn't started the pet spam and boosted it with p2w deployables, the feds would not have had to go back to FAW to fight it.

The debate rages.
Sometimes you *will* be hit while cloaked. The question is whetrher your ghost (inside his cloak detection range) was on the other guys screen at the time or not which is difficult to prove definitavely.

FAW... as far as I can remember you couldn't test carriers in Closed Beta. ;)

Actually spam came via the mines that the feddies used to crank out way back when in PvP, then the Carrier and its pets came along later. The feds starting the concept, the KDF just does it better thanks to Dev designs.
I believe Bfaw has always been here and has just gone through a series of buffs, nerfs, buffs again and the like to try and make it better at killing spam.

BFAW will target a cloaked vessel and hit it upon its intital use if the cloaked vessel is in combat range, but after that intial effects if the cloaked vessel stays cloaked or goes back into cloak after under fire the Bfaw will eventually start missing and lose said target. Hence BFaw is excellent for discovering cloaked vessels if blindly fired occassionally, but it will not keep them discovered, and it is unverified that it allows the firing party to see you.

This explains something my gf and I have both experienced on a number of occasions. I am fairly sure I wasn't in their visibility range but I cannot claim 100% certainty.

Am I right in further concluding that if I get hit in this manner it will drop my cloak too?

It's not about being hit through cloak, it's about a 6.5k shields and 27k hull ship based on evasion and weapon arcs which is hit by unavoidable death star beams...

You cant stay in battle for more than 5 seconds because a single hit from a faw adept escort with no target selected will vanish one of your facing shields entirely.

EDIT : Ah and battle cloak adds 50% def, of course it doesn't work against FAW ^^^
