General Ferengi D'Kora build thread

I plan on having one of these pretty darn soon, so I was curious what build you people had made for them. It's only been out a few days, but I have seen some truly terribly fitted ones buzzing about in ker'rat (torp boats, rainbow beams, etc). So has anyone found an effective build for them yet?

Honestly, it falls into a fairly strange place.

Although you could try and build it with cannons, the base turn rate makes it very difficult to use even with a RCS. You could try and build it like a cruiser, but it really lacks the HP to be an effective tank.

I tried a few builds with it and the best use I could find for it was as an Excalibur stand in. Since I was never a fan of the Excalibur in the first place, I've already stopped using it for anything besides running Doff missions.

I've been trying out 2x dual beam banks, 1x beam array, and 1x torpedo up front and 3x beam array and 1x mines in the back. It really doesn't seem to have the turn rate, even in battle mode, for dual heavy cannons to be a realistic option.

It's entirely possible that I have no idea what I'm doing, though. I'm wondering if maybe single cannons + turrets might be a better layout.

I don't have one, and it is unlikely that I ever will.

That being said, I might be tempted to try:

Fore: 4x Single Cannon
Aft: 4x Turret

Tac Ensign: TT 1
Tac Lt Comm: TT 1 > CRF or CSV 1 > CRF or CSV 2

Or

Fore: 3x Single Cannon + 1 Quantum / Photon Torpedo
Aft: 4x Turret

Tac Ensign: TT 1
Tac Lt Comm: HYT or TS 1 > CRF or CSV 1 > CRF or CSV 2

I prefer the all cannons layout for the efficiency of the BOFF usage, but 2 copies of TT means no ET which is a really strong consideration.

Out of practicality, for something like Elite STFs, I would probably do:

Fore: 3x Single Cannon + 1 Quantum / Photon Torpedo
Aft: 4x Turret

Tac Ensign: TT 1
Tac Lt Comm: HYT or TS 1 > CRF or CSV 1 > CRF or CSV 2
Eng Lt: EPTW 1 > EPTS 2
Eng Comm: EPTW 1 > EPTS 2 > ET 3 > Aux to SIF 3
Sci Lt: HE 1 > TSS 2 (can be swapped)

I agree. I've always been an Escort captain because I simply hate the flying bricks. That said, this is fun for playing something like a cruiser but with a better turn rate. I have also experimented with Single/Dual canons/turrets but the best seems to be Beems and Torps. The Missles really have little effect on a target with even minimal shielding. The best I can say is that the onboard Mail/Bank/Exchange/Duty Officers is a very nice addition and I'd like to see that on all ships. Unfortunately I see myself getting bored very quickly and changing back to my Defiant or Veranus.

I would of grinded one if it had a lt tac over ens. I have a jem hadar ship anyway.

Well I managed to get my hands on one, count it, ONE gold box, and when I opened it I got the cross faction console box. Unfortunately I just can't get enough money to get another gold box off the exchange, and I haven't found one yet either. How often have you guys found them, and how many did you have to open to get your D'Kora?

Too many... it's all luck, but unless you plan to open hundreds, I wouldnt expect a D'Kora... and gold lock boxes are rare as is, and are becoming even rarer next patch (just the fact they will be bound, so can't buy them off exchange).

Your best bet is probably just to buy Master Keys, sell them on the exchange, and straight buy a Dkora off the exchange. Unless you have a couple hundred dollars you're willing to spend, at least.

For me, I bought 50 keys, didnt get the ship. Bought it off exchange, then decided to get the ferengi set (600 crystals) and other crystal stuff, so opened more lock boxes... got a ship after about $300 worth of master keys (some from $, some from Dilithium, ect), so sold it for my initial purchase back. Got everything I wanted out of it (ship, shuttle, ferengi set), and it's worth it to me (just spent my entertainment $ for the month :)), but for most it's probably out of their price range.

EDIT:
And I've been using a typical cruisor beam-boat build on it for STFs. I usually get 5k DPS with my escort, and am now getting only 3.5k DPS, but my survivability is awesome, and it's something different, so I'm fine with it for now. I don't PVP, so can't help you there, but it has plenty of survivability for STFs..

@USS_Ultimatum, are you aware the D'kora can in fact slot DC and DHC?

That being said....

My current setup is

LtC Tact: TT1, HY1, TS3
Ensign Tact: TT1
Cmdr Eng: EPtS1, RSF1, ET3, AB3
Lt Eng: EPtS1, AtD1
Lt Sci: TSS1, HE2

(All Antiproton Weapons)
Fore: DBB, DHCx2, Quantum Torp
Aft: BA, Turretx2, Quantum Torp

*Above subject to chance soon, I've noticed Swarm Missile prevents torps from firing. Hence making have two torp skills nearly useless. I may switch the DBB for for a Single Cannon, switch out HY2 for Spread 2 and Spread 3 for CRF 2..... we'll see though

Your probably gonna hate me for this but, I had enough CP to get one key, so i was like, what the hell lets try it. In TTS channel I was goofing off and saying "Ok one key one box lets see how lucky i am" Bam. There it was, the box btw was one of those green ones.

As for set up, i have not done any STF's and I probably wont since

A) Ive never done them, thus i have no idea how to do them.
B) Players tend to not explain how they work and presume you know them, if you dont they leave you out in the cold.

I would rather not bother with that junk, so what I did is I equipped it 'like' a beam boat with Phased Poleron beams, tractor beam mines and a cluster torp up front. I also have one normal poleron dual beam bank which I'm probably going to replace with the phased cannons. I originally tried to cannon the thing out but the turn rate was just too low to keep most things in my arcs, and anyway this thing is much like the Exc on how it moves (which is my favorite ship anyway)

It works rather well with my tac officer but I'm still on the fence as to what this ships role is so I'm doing a dps build which works rather well.
