Whats wrong with Pew Pew?

With all the random threads with suggestions and such, I'm just curious what you all think the underlying issues are in as few words as possible, no walls of text. I mean short. Lets get some real concise/polite suggestions going.

A couple that come to mind in no particular order...

1. Motivation....needs some gear, or better rewards for playing and wining!
2. Its too easy to get through the game with a bad build.

Feel free to repeat things already said, I'm curious what you all individually think are the the top few things that need work.

Broken mechanics
Poor quality control (fixes that break several other things)
Ridiculously long waits to address important issues

Expanding on this point: Many players are put off of PvP when they are 'roflstomped' in an arena as they don't realise the large learning curve when moving from PvE to PvP. Not sure how to fix this one, other than pointing those players towards threads such as Mavairo's, Husanak's and Matteo's.

I was talking to Naldoran recently and he suggested that enemies actually use skills effectively. For example, if you pop an RSP against Jem'Hadar Attack Ships, they SNB you, or if you have 5 buffs up, you get SNB'ed. Using skills like PvPers use them might make it easier for new players and PvEers to get into PvP.

This is exactly the issue. PvE is a joke... Cryptics idea of hard mode is double the hit points and cheat cool downs. :) To break it down to a simple issue...

NPCs don't Heal. (and yes this is a PvP issue.)

People build stupid builds that don't have heals... or don't have dmg... they build completely unbalanced ships... because they have never had to Burst an NPC before it heals itself... or survive a proper attack.

Perhaps out new PvP underlord should just go fix the NPCs first.

Balanced powers being retooled and becoming slightly imbalanced. (RSP, VM)
Items that are more powerful then they need to be. (Phaser Disables)
Sets that give powers/abilities more powerful then BO abilities. (Borg Set, KHG shield, Maco Set)
Console items that can only be aquired via C-store via ship or RNG Box purchases.
Console Items that are more powerful then needs to be or too weak to be useful.
Lack of PVP Map quanity/quality.
No Federation vs Klingon War feel.
Persistant Map Bugs in Open PVP Area (Ker'rat)
Space lack of full up/down axis.
No special options for Private PVP (Observers, Ship/Class Limits, Timers)
DOFFs becoming too powerful/Necessary in some areas. (Brace for Impact Doffs)
Lack of Team Eject/Map Eject options. (Dilithium Farmers/Afkers)
Graphics Limitations. (Multiple EWPs in a map hiding other plasma effects)
Little to No True Reward incentive to PVP other then more PVE.
No Leaderboard.

That's all I can think of to list right now.. Maybe i'll come up with more later and add to the list.

Suggestion:
If a Leaderboard gets put in place, give Rewards to players who accomplish the following:
Top Leaderboard for 30 days. Reward could be Something similar to the Uncommon RNG boxes.
Top Leaderboard for 150 days. Improved Reward similar to Gold RNG Boxes.
Top Leaderboard for 365 days. Special Choice between RNG ship or Special New Ship Reward If in space. Or Random Mk XII (or higher) Ship item. If on ground, Special new Choice between 9 different Ground Kits or Random Mk XII (or higher) Item.

Suggestion:
New style of PVP for the Starters:
Cannon Style.
Instead of your ship, or your character, you fly in Cannon, pre-build ships and BoFF set ups or given Kits, appearances, and Gear to those of the original captians on the ground. This would be a way to get some one's feet wet with out anything happening to their ships or their captians. (Would NOT count towards PVP Dailies or PVP Missions) Then:

Add injury system to PVP, always on. (Private matches allowing for an option to turn it off)
When ever you die in PVP Non Cannon style, you gain injuries as if it were on Elite Difficulty PVE.

player ship- up to 8 weapons, small hitpoints, many heals, many buffs, and constant pinprick damage

npcs- 2 weapons, usually 1 beam and 1 torpedo, maybe a mine or duel cannon sometimes too. 10-100 times more hitpoints then a player ship, no heals. 1 or 2 buffs, and on elite CRIPPLING SHIP SHATTERING DAMAGE per shot, especially per torpedo.

donotra firing a photon spread 3 can wipe a whole team. a single non heavy plasma torp can 1 shot you or at least take more then half of a cruisers hitpoints, when a full shield facing is hit.

all npc's are basically tier 2 ships, they built them to be comparable to players up to that point and then they said **** it and just added a 1 in front of the hitpoint number and weapon damage number, to simulate getting stronger as the player levels. its crap, and the result is a player base that's biblicaly terrible at the game when those are their only opponents, compared to someone who pvps all the time. elite mode just cranks up the stupidity by adding a 10 in front of hit points and damage number. the d'deridex defender is proof that the ai can handle healing itself to the most basic degree, its time to make that thing the norm, at least on higher difficulty levels

cryptic, you will NEVER fix the borg npc's by taking away their ability to critical, lowering their damage, crap like that. they are still only firing 1 staggeringly powerful weapon at a time, with every shot that connects being a kick to the nuts. you need to half their damage, and double the number of weapons they have. or cut it by a third and triple the number of weapons they have. our ships can deal with contents pin ***** damage, that's something we can react to, even if its heavy damage. all 1 shots would be gone if this were done, and people that tank, heal and support would be useful. support is irreverent when 90% of the deaths are 1 shots.

this is the only way to make the stfs work correctly, make the npc's more like player ships. slash their hitpoints too and give them something like 'borg team', all 3 team skills applied at once. 90% of the survivability of player ships is from heals or the evasion score. npc's have nether, this is an INCORRECT design direction. again, make them more like player ships and 90% of the valid complaining about npcs and stfs will go away.

1. no true purpose to pvp, u cant ever win, (get great stuff/glory-reknown) or lose (lose stuff/ die forever)

2. q system is awful, makes for horrible games full of afkers/noobs/ noteamwork types(kirks)

3. kerrat, while awesome, could be better, insert any of 1000 reasons of ur choice (acidwarp cubes...)

4. healing. way too much, way too fast. not really healing, but: tac team.

5. kinda related, but there is little or no (even attempt) at individual skill/boff ability subtype balance. tac team>all others, empts> all other empt.. etc. dozens of nigh useless skills/abilities...(inpvp)

6. No big deal. no epic feel, no change from pvp outcomes, no effect whatsoever on the game (dont tell me aobut the 5 dili u earned) no rally call, little or no reason (other than the sake of fun) to do pvp at this time.

7. moar factions please, not just ships from them, but actual factions.

Dunno, most of the stuff said here doesn't seem a too big issue for me. Maybe for I'm new. Some 'battle scale' wouldn't be bad, to allow people to queue for like 3v3 or 10v10. But the most important thing is that there's no incentive to make players learn how to do PvP. If they arent addicted to the thrill, they don't do it at all. Many players never experience how fun could that be, and they aren't motivated to do so.

It needs a reward system. Some pvp only currency, or just a random mkxii drop for a random player on the winning team. One or two tiny costume/ship options for those with 1000 rounds won or so. Ahh, and an AFK-annihilator gun. :)

Fixing NPCs will go along way to fixing pvp.

Faceroll capable NPCs.

The D. Defender should be the Normal cruiser NPC in this game. Don't like it? Tough suck it up learn how to play or rage quit and go back to playing farmville, gaming is clearly not meant for you if you can't hack it against even -minimal- healing and dps, just because you installed a game all by yourself doesn't mean you should win at it.

Have an Escort script whipped up, based roughly on a decent to mediocre Escort player's flight characteristics and buff rotations. Force people to survive even mediocre bursts. Can't handle that? See above.
