negative hull resistance?

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know if its possible to push resistance into the negatives, or does it bottom out at 0%?

Wondering about Attack Pattern: Beta + disruptor breech, for example. If something had 20% resist, for example, the disruptor would be wasted and grant no benefit.

Nope... not possible

The only way for someone to have negative resistance is for them to go backwards.

Yes it is possible to push hull resistance into the negatives. This works out to be a damage multiplier for damage that is inflicted to the target if resistance is driven negative. And the really nasty thing is that is multiplies ALL of the incoming damage, not just base damage.

Yes, it's quite possible.

My Sci runs a heavy 'damage through shields' set up with GWs, PSWs and all Disruptor Cannons/Turrets with SV. When I throw Sensor Scan on there (around 90ish debuff, IIRC) it'll eat you through full shields.

It's not only possible, but fairly obvious in the combat log when it occurs. Simply look for something formatted like this:

Your (power) does XXX (YYY) damage to your target.

Where, XXX > YYY.

The number inside the parentheses is the base magnitude, pre-resists. The number outside is the actual amount of damage dealt, as modified by shields/resists/abilities/gear/etc.

you can have negative resistance just from sitting still! thanks for clarifying what those numbers in the log mean, i never did know

That's Defense.

Defense is your ability evade attacks completely. Resistance is modifies the amount of damage that you'll take when you get hit.

You can also have negative hull resistance if you have injuries.
