Meowcarrier surprise this week! Will you buy it?

This is the Dev Blog about the new Federation Caitian carrier, which turned out to be a scientific flight deck cruiser of sorts judging by the weapon slots and the boff layout. It looks interestingly alien too and totally different from earlier leaked shots of a 'battlestar' Odyssey version.

Gone was the 'Devs found it cool' broadside weapons idea too. I'm glad they didn't waste time with that, with all the other things to fix in STO!

Cryptic is delivering this ship a full one month ahead of schedule and it would be interesting to see how this flies.

But will you buy it?

It is, after all, a $25 VA ship. And $25 is a lot of cheeseburgers (they're $1.29 in the US) :D

Well I think it is a great ship, probably the best one for support/heals, I don't think I will be getting it. I am more of a tactical type of person. But I think it will be great for people who like to tank/heal.

Nah. I will buy the fighters from the D-Store, though. (No, not a typo)

Well I have a Caitian Tactical and I will do it, even if just to see the differences of normal gameplay.

KDF carriers dont really appeal to me because I cannot get myself to play anything but a Klingon on KDF and its just wrong to use a Orion ship.

Well looks like an interesting contender against a Vo'quv Carrier. You know what some Feds will say though? They buy this carrier, start using it, and then complain, "Why isn't it as OP as the Vo'quv?"

The Feds that are decent players however will buy it, use it, and wreck face in it.

I might just have to pick it up ;)

I seen a pic of it on twitter I think glad to see it wasnt in a lockbox:D

Later, I need more ship slots first :D

I'm not crazy about subsystem targeting. I'd prefer jam/scramble and/or boarding party.

Turn rate of 5 degrees. Going to make the Galaxy/Ody feel like a escort after flying this baby. I'll stick with the Kar-fi on my Klingon side. And wait for future federation carriers to be released with better stats.

so thx Cryptic for listening and putting a carrier on the feds side, but this not the ship for me at this time.

I have been away from the game waiting for the Feds to finally get a carrier. I will be coming back to the game just to buy and fly this ship just because it is a carrier. Since Enterpise is already taken should I call it Yorktown or Hornet? Or maybe CV10(CV10 refering to the second Yorktown that fought in WW2 after the first Yorktown was lost at midway, this second Yorktown was saved from the scarp yard after the war to be used as a WW2 Pacfic museam which is still open to the public).

I also noticed differences between the Kitty Carrier and the Vo'quv:

Boffs: The Kitty Carrier has a Lieutenant Tactical vs. the Vo'quv's Lieutenant Commander Tactical. In exchange the Vo'quv only has a Lieutenant Science and Commander Science vs. The Kitty Carrier's Lieutenant Commander Science and Commander Science. Makes sense as Klingons are warriors first, scientists second.

The Kitty Carrier is less durable than the Vo'quv, but has better shielding. Otherwise the Vo'quv and the Kitty carrier are the same

What bothers me though is why does the Vo'quz only has +10 to auxillary, yet the Kitty Carrier gets +5 to Shields and +10 to Auxillary?

Also, what is a Thoron Device?
