Armitage or Defiant
 

So I've hit the big 50, and I was wondering, which is better? The Armitage or the Defiant? They both have ups and downs.... I don't worry about the price.

I have both just used the armitage fo bot 4 hours, its a nice little ship but the point defance is not brillant best used when the enmey has low hull, the fighters are good for distraction, you can lanch far few too. which can be hand in pvp got loads flying around u can makes it little frustrating fo people to be targeting you.

its not as quick manovering as the defiant though and having the cloak is handy, but its not a bad choice depands on play and build type can make a differance.

i enjoy using both makes a change.

In theory all Tier 5 ships are equal, in that they have a weakness and a strength.

To many the new Armitage has a strength a weakness and a free hanger bay.

It has been pretty much proven that these two ship are the top two Federation Escorts when it comes to DPS.

The problem with a thread like this your comparing two Iconic ships the Akira skin in T5 Format with a fighter escort, and the Defiant with a Fed Cloaking device. Most people are going to be swayed by a preference for one look over another. Mines the Akira.

Look around this ship is heavily discussed at the moment you should be able to find the information required. But your going to be happy with either since they are both Awesome ships.

Torpedo Spam Console, Fighter Bay and a Lt.Com Eng power vs Cloak and a Lt.Com Tac Power. They both have the horrible unforgivable problem of three Tac Ensign skills :D

Its only weakness is that it gives up the second Lt. Commander Tactical skill in place of a third (and relatively situationally useful) Ensign Tactical skill. Otherwise, it's an upgrade to the Fleet Escort. The hangar and point defense console are just bonuses.

If you want speed and turnrate... Defiant...

If you want a hangar and torps... Akira...

I fly the defiant as my main, and after exploring different options, I have found that the defiant works best with alpha strikes. I personally am addicted to the cloak since when I am in places like Ker'rat I can cloak and just hang out, or cloak come up close to someone, and blast them. If you would prefer more sustained DPS, then the tier 5 Akira would be your best bet, but if you prefer alpha strikes, then the defiant is your best option,
