Advice for 50 please - what to buy and where to go?

Hello,

I need some advice please on how to start progressing for PVE. What do you do once you hit 50?

I'd be curious to hear what the general advice or order is for everyone nowadays. And also any specific advice for my case please.

In my specific case, I've been 50 for a bit, but not gone very far. I am a science officer in a long range retrofit. I have the Aegis set and the Borg engine and console. I have Mk XI purple weapons, and Mk XI purple and blue consoles. My ground gear is similar.

For resources I have about 200K dilithium and a few million EC. I am usually a solo player. I'm not very experienced with STFs.

What should I be spending my dilithium on? What things should I be going after?

Thank you!

Hi and nice job hitting VA!

1. It really depends on if you want to use escorts, cruisers, or science ships. And if you want to spend real money to get the best ship of its class.

2. Equipment: Have you started doing STFs a lot? I know you have done some because you have the Borg pieces. That said, the best setup for a Sci. ships is 3-piece Brog with MACO shield. (Engines, ASSM. console, and Deflector.)

3. Consoles: Tac: energy weapon consoles to get the most DPS out of your weapons.
Eng: Nuetroim armor for all around resist. And the ASSM. Console should go here.
Sci: Field generators are the best Sci. Console.

4. Weapons: Whatever type you like, just stick with one type.

5. BOFFs: This really depends on the ship. But some basics. TT 1, HE 1, TSS 2, and EP2W 1 Are all great skills to have.

If you have any other questions just fire away!

Hi kiyoko4,

I would recommend chatting to a few sci captains to optimize your skill point build, you might have to respec, you can find a token on the zen store, if you are not gold or LTS, as they get 6 free respec tokens as you progress through your leveling. Look into re-skilling your bridge officers. If you can't train them in a skill you want. Ask around and see if someone will train it for you. Being in a fleet would help you more in this area.

As for STFs run a good few normals before starting elite, you will need a full set of XI borg weapons. A set of XI omega or maco XI would be handy but not really needed for space STF elite. You can use the standard borg set you can buy with 5 marks each. You will want to equip for protection against Plasma, anti-proton and kenetic. When running STF space. Let people know that you are new/under-experienced or lack DPS. It will help people know what to assign you to do in them.

Remember to keep filling out your Doff assignments to get the bonus. There's a few good guides on the forums explaining them in great detail.

I really would recommend joining a fleet, even if you like running solo. I am sure that a few fleets will let you join even if you don't run with them that often, plus the benefits of being in a fleet out weigh not being in one. Fleet gear is great items to have.

As for spending your current resources, I always say "hold onto it" It is better to wait and see what you really need, than make impulse purchases on stuff you later find out you don't need.

I misread it as the OP asking what content was available rather than what they should do with their ship / equipment.

That's what I thought at first as well, would you mind answering that though?
