Galaxy Dreadnaught Spinal Lance
Hello all. I was thinking some more following my idea for a console for the Excelsior. Many players want the ability to change the weapon type of the Spinal Lance to the Galaxy Dreadnaught. I was thinking of a way this might be able to be done. Then it came to me. Add a slot for the dreadnaught specifically for the lance, similar to the slot for fighters on carriers. In this slot you can place a energy module. The default module of course would be a Phaser Energy Module. You would then be able to purchase, via the dilithium store, a different energy module with the energy type you want. Running a ship with Plasma Weapons? Buy a Plasma Energy Module. Want a Polaron setup? Buy the Polaron Energy Module. They could restrict the purchase of these modules to those that have unlocked the Galaxy Dreadnaught.
What if I prefer the hybrid weapons? Good question. Get in touch with your tactical duty officer on your ship and have one crafted. I know this would take some coding change and some work adding the different types of beams to the lance but, I think it would be a fair idea. Here is a mock-up. |
It's a good idea, but I think the hybrid weapon types should be in the dilithium store also, but cost a little more. And if you've unlocked the galor, you can buy spiral wave disruptor types too.

I assume since they would be doing this to the Gal X it would also be done for the Guramba as well? I suppose would be nice if they did it...my only problem I see with your ideas is the hybrid weapons. The odds that your gonna get a proc from your lance is so low and so far between seems like would be a lot of work for nothing.

You know what would be a good idea? If they bring back the accuracy the Lance once had and make the DPS damage strong enough to blast down shields and hull just like the cannons do on overpowered escorts. At current levels the damage barely bleeds through the shields let alone take down the shield of a shield tanking escort.

God enough already with escorts being overpowered. I will say this once. THEY ARE NOT OVERPOWERED. POWERFUL yes, but not OVERPOWERED. They have very high damage potential. Duh. They have great maneuverability. Yes. But are they invincible? HELL... NO...

I love the design of the Dreadnought. But it needs something to make it a via ship again. Your idea has good merit. I hope the Dev's have something in store for the model I have parked in my Starbase garage.
