Lost particle fragments during academy event

Hello,

During today's academy event that started at 11AM edt, at 11:17 I got message that "You used Particle Fragment"

Obviously I did not use them, it was during gathering particle fragments.

If I counted correctly the message repeated 67 times. I usually average 150 fragments per hour, so 67 fragments into the event seem a bit high.

If I had any fragments from previous day it was not more than just a couple. Still, I lost all of the fragments I gathered (inventory had no fragments) so far and I would like to get them back.

After that I continued gathering and everything was fine.

Particle Fragments SAE

I have seen this happen to people in the past - not sure exactly why, however I would suggest never hold more than 60 in your inventory anyway. Turning them in routinely has always payed off for me. Also - fragments only last about 30 minutes after the event, then they disappear. You can sell left over fragments to the Bartender @ SFA for 50 EC each after the event. Still this may be a bug, but turning them in when you have 60 could help mitigate this.

This issue occurs when you started the event with fragments from a previous event still in your inventory. There is a way to boost the dilithium you can earn by carrying fragments from a previous event. The timers were added to discourage people from trying to "exploit" without know what they are doing.

Based on what I've seen, it seems all particles share their shelf life timer. So until your inventory hits 0 particles, they will all take the timer for the first particle your acquired. That is why half of your new particles disappeared without a trace in the middle of the event.

Hey! This happened when I was at academy! (I'm Melati Kusumu@Marhawkman.)

But anyways. There's a trigger on particle fragments to go bad after the event is over. But there's a glitch that causes them to to go bad at an unpredictable time. the issue you ran into is that the "bad" fragments that were left over from the previous event got stacked with new fragments. When the old bad fragments expired they took the entire stack with them.

My recommendation to avoid this in the future is to sell any extra fragments to the Club 602 bartender when the event is over.
